Agree. Had impact on the game probably first half but went silent after.

With White, i got no comment, doesn't impress me nor is he a forward that our midfielders look towards kicking to.

Either because he doesn't present good opportunities, rarely on the lead or not working hard enough or his on the lead but his team mates aren't backing him.
 
What I saw of Jetta is shying away from contested possession. Actually the entire team seemed not to keen on getting to the ball with numbers...

White needs confidence to play one position as opposed to being chopped and changed. Last night he was underwhelming and looked lost.

We don't need another tackling machine, three tackles for an outside mid, and some that probably weren't counted because they didn't result in a stoppage, was a very good effort for the bloke everyone's been getting stuck into.
 
I'll agree, I don't know what he did to deserve a recall, and I'd much rather see Rohan - decent pace, physical presence, can take a grab - replace him when fit, but I don't think he embarrassed himself last night.

If he was an outside mid he would be racking up handball receives, disposals, inside 50s and goals. An average of 10 disposals a game means he is not much of an outside midfielder

I don't understand the correlation. I did make a similar comment after the Richmond game that he doesn't get the ball enough. But I don't see how that changes his position in the team. IIRC he led our I50s for the game against the Dogs and I'm sure his numbers overall aren't too bad in that area. Also getting amongst the goals on a semi-regular basis. Just means he's not a very good outside mid.

I tend to agree with you. He's played 47 games now and the far majority of them he has had very little effect or impact. The Cats are having similar problems with Hawkins, but at least Hawkins can take a contested mark. White can't.
 
I have mixed feelings about Jesse. He has not been great this year, but then again the service he has been receiving from our mids and defence has not been great too.
 
I don't know what to think about Jesse anymore....I have defended him for a while now, but it's getting harder. For someone of his size and physical ability, he just has no impact on games. I do fear that the coaching staff has just screwed him around positionally to the extent that he is genuinely lost and has a spare parts role which doesn't allow him to settle into doing anything really well, but it's very frustrating to see him not taking his opoortunities when he gets recalled. He seemed to be floating around the backline a fair bit last night, which doesn't seem like the best way to use him.

I'd just like to see him plonked in the goal square, at least creating a contest for crumbers. It looks like he's being moved around too much.
 
I'm just going to disregard last nights game as far as Jesse goes. It wasn't a good game to guage his progress.

I thought he looked hungry last week , despite not making a big impact.

Put him in the F***ING goal square and leave him there for a while Longmire!

I agree, he needs to be left there, should have used LRT/Seaby in ruck and not the other

Hmm only 54% game time which was less than the subbed off Birdie (57%). It could be due to the wet conditions and us being too tall in the forward line, but it looks like Jesse was used almost exclusively as the backup ruckman.

Makes sense, don't think I saw him once in the forward line. So so much for Horse's 'I want to settle him at FF' bullshit.
 
I hear Carey will be working with Hawkins who people seem to compare to White for some reason.. Youd think Horse being a North man would be able to help get Carey to work with White? Or he himself could get better results as he was a gun forward too? Doubt if he hasnt tried either or both.
 
Moving White up forward for a few games would make it easier to judge whether his fit. His had time, last year and this year...don't see much of him up forward so can't say if his capable.

Hell if they need a back up ruck, LRT yea...but i like to see Reid do it. His got some nice hands.
 
If anyone's noticed, each time he's brought back in he's had to play in wet weathered games (not conducive for forwards) or immediately against top teams (games we're not expected to win) which later results in his dumping!!! Give the guy a bloody fair go i say! Bring in another attacking option like TDL alongside Reid - let Jesse play alongside them and have few games against some of the lower ranked teams, let him build his confidence back up - then see what he can really do!
