Morrison should've played. We really missed Joey Matera, tried to change our game plan to him not being there but it didnt work.

Anyway, I'm gutted. Can't believe we let ourselves get intimidated by them again. They're no different to any other team we play with a famous coach. Wake up and get over the idiot. First 15 minutes lost it for us. Weren't ever going to be able to make it up and maintain it.

Free on Cox was a disgrace. The one they missed just before on Johnson was too, but there's no room for pay back frees in a game that tight & full on. A joke.

Only positive I can get right now, is that at least the boys, the media & the supporters will take a breath, step back and realise just how far we've got to go. Improved, yes. But nothing can be assumed or taken for granted.

(PS- Is anyone else completely exhausted too?)

Worsfold's decision to keep our tall guys like Willow, Lynch and Mcdougal in the WAFL cost is the game. We should have had one of them in, it would have given us a direct target and a marking forward. How many games do we have to lose before Worsfold realizes his made a mistake and brings Wilson or Lynch or Mcdougal bacl in?

Of course, another Eagles/Essendon classic. I love these games, pitty we don't play them more often.

In many ways, I think it was the loss we had to have. Lets back up now with a win over the doggies. I wouldn't mind seeing Gasper and/or McDougall given a go in the forward line this week. With Fletcher out, we should have played a tall forward!!!! [ala Tredrea last week]

Yep - I am exhausted too after a stressful game, yet in hindsight a great contest. I thought we were gone early in the last and we definitely played below potential for large parts of the game, HOWEVER, I was impressed that we fought back to get to 9 pts in the last.

The bummers always seem to lift for games against us and they had A LOT of good players out. What we can learn from this is that intensity and determination can win games no matter who is on the park......

Cousins was great as was Kerry, Wirra, Haynes, Fletch and Gardy. Hopefully the match committee will finally realise we need a bigger key forward as a target - the bummers cleared it too easily without a contest. Surely Willo or Lynchy, Doogs, Hansen etc could have taken the odd mark or too. Fido would have made a difference but the other fwds didnt cover for his absence. Unfortunately Samps and Jones were down today and we blew some good chances early in the third term......kicking skills at times today were pretty average.

phew.....a great game with a less than great result (for Eagles fans anyway)! Congrats to Essendon who were more committed over the 4 quarters.

gday guys, just back from the game

since there's no GBU thread as of yet i won't be game enough to start one and i'll just do it here

GOOD:

Haynes - i don't care how much you guys keep bagging him, he took some good marks and kicked a blinder, i know he missed one crucial one but so did a lot of the guys. i'd say he stood up in the absense of fido. little can be said about our other forwards.

Cousins, Kerr, Wirrpunda - another good game by them and especially kerr at the start helped us to be in this one. wirrpunda was outstanding as usual.

BAD:

Umpiring - a few shockers cost us goals. i know the point that shoulda been out of bounds didn't really mean much in the end but boy it was a shocker by the field umpire.

Our Forward Line/Our Back Line - how much do we rely on our centres to hold us up. we need our key position backs and forwards to stand up.

Our Passing - we time and time again managed to pick out essendon players and kick to them.

UGLY:

Macintosh - it seems as though he forgot to turn up today. we might as well have had someone else on lloydy. seriously, he is too slow and it is about time he retires or else we retire him.

The Start - essendon studied the collingwood game and beat us at our own game. that's cheating!!!

Essendon Supporters - far more annoying than collingwood supporters (or maybe it was just coz they won this time around?!)

ABC Radio Coverage - Gerard Whateley is a shocker, those guys are nothing without Tim Lane. And they missed the first 3 mins of the 3rd quarter because they were doing news stuff. Why couldn't Rexy and the boys from 3AW cover it?!

well i'd say that's about it for another game...

Jako has been playing very well at CHF and has been a good focus. Sampi has been excellent playing off a half forward flank. Today both went missing and we broke down in that area. Putting Gardy there in the last quarter didn't work. In previous games Gardy has gone to the ruck in the last quarter and we have dominated. I believe that should have happened today.
I think Woosha got it wrong tactically.
Anyhow, were 7/3 after 4 homes and six away games.....I can't complain.

oh and Milli did as well as any FB could do. Lloyd is a champion.

Mainly because we have Brad Hardie, Billy Amp Crackers Kernan (?) and Graham "Smokie" Dawson calling the games here.

That in itself is enough to make me listen to the ABC.

If Rex Hunt EVER calls an Eagles game I will not listen. And I will write a stiff letter to 6PR for allowing that tosser to call our game.

Just on McIntosh...I thought he did the best he good. The supply from the midfield was excellent and not once did I see Lloyd have to stretch overhead for a mark, it was always out in front of his face or right in the bread basket. Not much any defender can do about that. It's not like Lloyd was leaving Milli in his wake. McIntosh was right there with him on every lead, the passes were just too good.

That was my take on it anyway. We missed Fido's 4 or 5 a game pretty badly but Sampi and Jako went missing which put more pressure on our midfield to kick goals. Not enough in the end. We will be better once Fido and Gaspar get back into the side.

Oh and on Fido...Neitz only kicked 1 so he is still in it! Go FIDO!! :D

Two years ago we wouldnt have got near the Bombers. It goes to show just how much we've improved! But also shows that we've still got a way to go before we can be a real premiership threat! A good wake up call for us!

on the rexy thing...

im in melbourne so we only get 6prs call when its tight and its between a melb side

and rexy is not a tosser, he is the most entertaining caller in the land, by far. and you compare the team at 3aw with the rest and they just shine. they have much higher intensity and they are funny...

anytime kerr wants to join the bombers, he's more than welcome :D

abc missed the first 3 mins of the third quarter on sunday...

and i don't mind missing a couple of possies here and there. they get the big picture and its entertaining. the key word. and when you're at the ground and notice how much they're missing, it doesn't bother you much coz you're there to see it.
