Obviously with him as my avatar I'm pretty partial to Jets, but I'm starting to think he needs a stint in the twos. Yesterday he really fell away in some tackles, missed an easy grab on the flank that led to a goal going the other way, and tended to "hover" round a contest too much. I know he's not an in and under player, but sometimes you gotta go and get your own ball, otherwise people are going to start calling him a seagull. I dread to think what a hard-bodied side like Collingwood are going to do to him. His two goals were crucial I know...I'm really in two minds about him ATM.
 
I actually thought yesterday he looked a lot more composed with the ball in hand tan he has in previous weeks. Didn't just bomb it long at any opportunity and instead had a look for a good option and often found it. I thought he had quite a decent game, not to mention his 2 important goals. Laid some nice tackles too IMO (missed a few as well). So I thought he did his part.
 
Jetta's work rate is average.

Though yesterday he was influential, i think his sub role has made him realize his not set in stone with the seniors so his putting his body out there.

I'm fairly certain this was him but that dive behind post and knocking the ball back into play for Kennedy's goal, superb. Then his set shot was another great one.

It'll be interesting to see how he develops and how he does against the better teams these following weeks.
 
Thing is, he's still only getting about 10 disposals in a game. An outside player like him should be getting around the 20-25 disposals at the very least in a game.

Why do people see Lewis Jetta as an outside midfielder for? I know he has pace, but that pace would be far more useful in our forward line. I would use him as a small forward, crumbing off Sam Reid and Adam Goodes. I personally think he's not being in the right way early in his career. He should be used as a goalsneak who an excite the crowd with some freakish goals. He doesn't have the fitness, body or work rate at the moment to play solely as an outside midfielder just yet.
 
I said outside player not outside mid. He's a receiver, not a tackler, so therefore should be receiving the ball, or running into the right positions to receive the ball, a lot more than he has been. If he's a crumber he should be applying much more physical pressure in the forward line and kicking more goals than he has been. Look at Krakouer at Collingwood today, has been great in their forward line with spurts in the midfield.
 
yesterday Goodes took a mark in the back 50. Lewis was on the wing with a Tiger beside him and a paddock behind him. Goodes wanted to kick it to him, but Lewis wasn't interested. If he'd just led into the space Goodes would've kicked it in front of him and he was away. I dont know if the problem is footy smarts or size of petrol tank.
 
I want him to stay.
he's not a Bolton or Kennedy doing grunt work for 99% of the game.
he is an attacking speedster and a spoiler.
Sometimes, simply harassing an opponent with speed causes a moment of indecision - and means potential raids are delayed or foiled.
I also think his spurts down the wing in the latter part of games actually lifts tired teammates for one more effort.

So so true. And this is my main issue. I saw similar instances on Sunday. So many opportunities where all Lewis had to do was lead into the space and the field would have opened up. He is very reluctant to create the opportunity. A few times you could read the disinterest on his face because he just didn't have the tank to put the hard yards in. I'm really starting to believe its the size of the tank. The stamina just isn't there. He falls off very quickly once he has put in a burst of energy.

It's concerning that he seems to be playing with less energy than last year. Maybe i'm wrong and i'm not seeing it right but the confidence and enthusiasm is not 100% there this year.

He and Shaw are probably the most effective at breaking lines when they get the chance. Being bumped off the ball in the forward line is probably more likely than if he was playing on a wing. I don't have the stats but I don't remember him kicking too many crumbing goals in the forward line and he has certainly spent some time there. Most of his goals have been running goals or mark inside 50.

Yes, it was him and it was brilliant. I believe he's getting smarter as his confidence is building. I know there were some weak tackles, but there were from other players also, and he hasnt yet got the body for fierce tackling. But I believe he's doing enough to keep his place in the team.
 
If this fellow doesn't put in he should be sent back to WA. He and TDL are like scared rabbits when someone goes near them. Must be out this week after that disgraceful handball, he missed the target by 3 to 4 metres. Yes everyone makes mistakes but that could cost us a home final.

At least he is improving. A few weeks ago he wouldn't have taken a mark running back with the flight.

TDL still has a long way to go but he can only improve if he gets game time.
 
How can you fluke deciding to run back with the flight of the ball? Maybe it was a fluke he actually marked it but he made a decision to go for it. So he is slowly starting to naturally go for the ball rather than hesitate.

Both TDL and Jetta need to spend the whole summer in the gym.They aren't physical enough IMO

You forget the 2 goals he kicked to go with those 10 touches?

A FF does that and he's had a solid game.
