And even in his poor games he will still do things that nobody on our list can do. Hit targets, break away from opposition players and break lines that lead to scores that nobody else can pull off.

He has to stick some tackles better for sure, but after sticking with him through much worse play than this in recent years and having seen how good he can be, the coaches would not be so stupid as to drop him a week out from the finals.

I don't think it's such a bad idea to start him as sub and give Morton the early run. Let Jets come on and blitz the last qrtr and a half. Given he looks tired and has slowed down a bit the last couple of week how can giving him a small rest and chance to come on a build some confidence late in the game be a bad thing??

Rested? Dropped? What's the difference when you're not picked for the 22? ....

I think Joel Selwood would think there was a difference.

It's my opinion that he appears to look like he could do with a freshen up which would be of benefit for the month ahead. If thats the case, I'd like to see him get that freshen up this weekend and be cherry ripe for the finals. If it's not the case, I'm sure the club will pull the right rein and let's hope he finds his mojo again.

I'm confident he can...

I think people are forgetting that even when he has quiet games, Jetta is attracting the opposition's number 1 tagger. That's big. It's freed up Kennedy massively, for one. While he's attracting the number 1 tagger, he's still worth having in the team.

Agree on the freeing up of the midfield. It's no co-incidence that Joey, Kizza and McV in particular had an outstanding 5-6 week period and we also won 9 on the trot whilst Jetta was getting tagged.

However, he was not tagged heavily on the weekend, in fact barely tagged at all, but just looked lethargic...

Agree with Barney, S120 and TripleB regarding Jetta. The opposition are still putting a lot of work into stopping him and he's still offering the team things that whoever his replacement is can't. Even using him as the sub is a risk IMO.

Rested? Dropped? What's the difference when you're not picked for the 22? I think you had better read the threads a little more as there are plenty wanting Jetta dropped!

He is also the Blood in the team who can kick off either foot on the run Mick!

He has struggled against the teams that will be our threats in the finals. A massive problem in itself.

There was moment when an opposition player had the ball and Jetta was almost motionless in chasing. I wasn't happy because it resulted in a goal.
He needs to learn to cover for his team mates that leave their man to spoil some one else's opponent.

I can't see this ever changing with him. I think it is just accepted within our team for some reason, that he can be less defensive than some other players in our team.

But up until a month ago his defence and defensive efforts had improved 10 fold. He was chasing, he was covering, he was running into space to give his teammates an outlet.

Last few weeks he has just looked like Jetta circa 2011 with undoubtedly his worst performance on the weekend just gone.

He brings way too much to the table to even consider not having him in the team for the finals, but he needs to re-discover his mojo quick smart...

Well we have one week left before the Finals to rest him up, or even to send him a warning to pull his finger out.

I think mid year against a GWS or a GC you would but not now against Geelong. He needs to play out the year now & whatever will be will be but at worst, he attracts a negative role (tagger) by his opponent that would otherwise go to another of our players. He may be just tiring. God knows but to go far against the good teams, we need our top goal scorer firing.

I just really think resting him against Geelong would do him the world of good, and bring him back for the Finals straight away. But this way it also shows him he isn't guaranteed a 22 spot no matter what his form.

No way would you drop / rest him, his work rate has dropped by both fatigue and opposition putting more emphasis into him, natural bonus is this takes heat of one of other mid field brigade, so when the opposition adjust then so should we, another receiving heavier attention is R. Shaw trying to limit his run of half back, I would have the duel run of both Shaw and Jetta in tandem in the outside midfield, this would give each other a bit of cut out, enable Shaw to be dangerous further up the ground and possibly cut Jetta some slack, we beat Geelong with plenty of outside run, particularly last year down there, more pace through midfield.

Get in here you slobs and sing - to the tune of Jet Airliner by The Steve Miller Band.

Oh, Oh lil ol' Jets give them a reminder
Don't worry about the carry away
Oh, Oh lil ol' Jets give them a reminder
Cause it's here that you've got to stay
Yeah, yeah yeah, yeah

He is back - yet none of you lot are!

Whilst he is still raw and made a few mistakes couldnt help but feel he looked like he belongs when September comes, whilst we have a plethora of soldiers to do the dirty and hard work in the middle what I got most out of yesterdays game was that we need the x-factor that both Goodsey and Jets bring us to take us to that last Saturday in September!

Waiting to get Roahn back too :(

That's what got me excited. As soon as Dangerfield got the ball I had a feeling Jets would take a few steps, put his arm out and give up, but he hit top gear like he was chasing a ball in an open 50.

Do you think it will click, though?

Hopefully he realises that, while he's never going to be able to drop a guy onto his back in a head-on rugby tackle, generally size isn't too much of an issue when you take a man from behind, if you know what i'm saying.
