Bartel, threads like this are crap when a supporter of a said player creates it, i think it looks like you just want your little confirmation.

Hodge doesn't need to work on his hardness at the ball, and he also has better disposal than Hayes which makes you just seem like another bitter cat flog. Maybe Hodge can learn some hardness off Kelly FFS.
Hayes doesn't need brilliant disposal as that is not a huge part of his game. Similar to Mitchell, his job is to get the ball and feed it out to the better disposers.
Hodge's inside game is not as good as either Hayes or Mitchell and his disposal not potent enough to be effective as an outside player either. He is more a good at all trades, brilliant at none type. Good mark, reasonable kick, good leader but lacking the aerobic capacity to really influence games frequently as the top tier players do.

I was indeed referring to Kelly. Hard, disciplined and reliable be it mid, forward or back. Would be an A grade player if his disposal was more consistent.
On your point - Hayes is a gun, however Hodge certainly has weaknesses in his game that need to be worked on (namely disposal and hardness at the ball, not the man, and consistency).
LOL. You're obviously an astute follower of the game. Hodge has magnificent disposal, and his hardness at the ball is second to NONE. Those 2 facets of his game have never, ever been questioned.
Can only presume this is some lame troll.![]()
Oh well, then it's official isn't it?I raised this with one of my best mates, a Hawk fan, and he said "yeah Hodge does nothing but we still love him anyway."
Not a troll at all. He just isn't that good. The media and Hawk fans claim he has magnificent disposal, but I have watched him closely the past 12 months and the amount of clangers he does is alarming. Not only that but he is too inconsistent to justify his pick. I raised this with one of my best mates, a Hawk fan, and he said "yeah Hodge does nothing but we still love him anyway."

Your "best" mate sounds like as big a felcher as you.
I'm sure noone else cares, but thanks for the insight into what two downy's talk about when in a room together.
A bit old dont you think?

Meh. That's what he said and I entirely agree with him.
I take it from calling me a downy and failing to address the issue that you also agree. Which is justified. I believe you as Hawthorn fans have a right to be dissapointed with his development.
Sammy is ahead but Bartel is a star.
First time I ever thought he was worthy of winning that brownlow was on Monday.
I wouldn't go that far.I'm pretty surprised at the amount of respect for Mitchell - I thought only Hawk fans really noticed. He is a briliant little nugget that takes a lot of punishment without pleading to umpires etc. Never seen a player as quick with his hands or as consistently good at clearances. He flicks between left and right hand/foot which often throws his tackler off balance. Is prone to the odd clanger.
