GEELONG fans have been spruiking Jimmy Bartel's hero status for years, but one anonymous Adelaide woman can truly make the claim.
Bartel was too shy to relive the story on stage last night, so it was left to captain and accomplice Tom Harley.
They were driving through Adelaide the night before their NAB Cup match with Port Adelaide.

"We saw this guy strolling across the road. He looked out of it, off his dial, and it sort of looked like his girlfriend was picking him up (in her car)," Harley said.
"But Jimmy has got a bit of street smarts - or so he tells everyone - and he's read the situation really well.
"This guy's actually climbed into the car, has opened the door and went to assault this woman.
"She was screaming, 'Help me, help me, somebody help me!'
"Jimmy's got straight up, grabbed the bloke out of the car and has thrown him against the floor.
"This young lady drove off and we went our separate ways. It was an amazing act, really.
"After the heroic deed, our hero was thanked in, perhaps, true Adelaide style.
"Believe it or not, we were turning right and the people behind us were tooting, saying 'C'mon'," Harley said.

yeah jimmy is a gun this year we played cricket against bell park at bell park(at the bell park footy oval) at break we said to one bloke there wow this place looks good he said yeah jimmy bartel helped us out with all this.and he said he comes down and watches the footy some times he just stands just out there and you wouldn't even know he was a brownlow medalist
