If Thompson stopped making him play as loose man across HBF like he does to Ling, Enright and even Corey, Jimmy would be twice the player.

Judging from the praccy game against Melbourne, they might be grooming Tenace for that role. Freed up Bartel to play purely on the ball and both played very well also.

How was the family day shell? get to chat to Jimmeh?

The family day was great Cometh. Good weather, good band and (hopefully) good players. Hadn't been to one since about the zoo one in 2001.

Anyway, to answer your question. Yes, as soon as I saw the Jimmy leave the autograph tent, I pounced!! Got a photo taken with him... didn't say much. The ocassion of it all was too much for me. :o :D

No chance...the Ginger man is earmarked for a midfield role.

Move all *real* midfielders to playing in the back half.

What, he was letting the children touch his string?

I don't know what you think goes on at Family days... but there was no touching of anyones string... okay?!

Who knows.. maybe on that date that I missed out on... :( ;)

Lol, i have started a trend.
I feel so honoured.
And damn, i wish Geelong would come up and vs Sydney.
I want to take pretty photos and get lotsa Geelong stuff.
It's not fair..... DAMN THAT AFL MATCH PICKER PROGRAM!!

Re: B A R T E L - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

this guy was great again, im not a gambling man and know nothing of odds but im considering getting down to the TAB and whacking $10 on him for the brownlow.

even denis cometti was in man love with the jimmeh.

"a yard quicker and he would be a superstar"

Re: B A R T E L - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Forget pace, he is a superstar.

Hodge and Bartel were taken in the same draft - I would prefer Bartel. Seriously.

Agreed. Interesting, does anyone have a list of the top ten from that year (2001 draft)?

Would be fascinating where he would be picked up if they repated that draft again.

He was pick eight in 2001.

Dal Santo was also in that draft. Not a bad bunch of midfielders!!

Re: B A R T E L - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

exactly why does Ling get the nod over Jimmeh in the middle. he is our best mid.

my exact sentiments TTC, maybe if we had our best midfielders at the centre bounces we would win more clearances than having one player more determined to stop his designated player getting to the clearance. our middle set up is basically 2 cats v. 3 opposition.

Re: B A R T E L - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Henceforth may the great man be dubbed "Brownlow". If he isn't in the top 3 for the season thus far I'll be amazed.

Re: B A R T E L - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I think the '01 draft went:

1. Hodge
2. Ball
3. Judd
4. Polak
5. X. Clarke
6. Sampi
7. Hale
8. Bartel

13. Dal Santo

17. Kelly

Let's not forget Gazza was in that one too.

I would say he's probably equal 3rd with Ball...

Eagles could've had Judd and Bartel. Oh well, can't win em all...
