Look people overlook one key fact in all this. Freo will be pushing hard for him to stay, if he says publicly I want out to Crows or Port, Freo move to plan 2 and thats to try to get the best possible deal for him. They might talk PSD if Crows or Port try to low ball them (ala Collingwood - Port in 2003) but both clubs are professional enough not to do that. Will Fremantle be that accommodating?
If Pavlich makes his desire to move public Freo don't have a choice. If they burry their head in the sand and not listen to any offers all thats saying is that players and player managers will always be reluctant to deal with them in the future. Freo all of a sudden would not become an attrative club for players anymore because it would send them the message that the players are not treated in the right manner.
Make no mistake, Freo won't be easily pleased in the trade week (if it got to that point) but they won't be ****wits about it either. If they boned Pavlich in that manner then they would REALLY struggle with the relations to potential recruits down the track. Everyone knows that Pavlich has been as loyal to that club as anyone has ever been. He has stuck with them through the toughest of times. He re-signed with them after a 2 win season just so the club would get some recognition. He helped repair that clubs image and put Freo on the map so to speak to the point that players now want to play for Freo (see Tarrant, Heath Black, Josh Carr etc). For them to bone Pavlich would just stuff up that goodwill that he has helped them build over the years.
Freo won't do that and both SA clubs are professional enough to not get into the childish games of low-balling Freo with thier offers because their reputations are on the line just as much as Freo's would be.
