Jimmy Sellar For PAV

Will Fremantle be that accommodating?
Look people overlook one key fact in all this. Freo will be pushing hard for him to stay, if he says publicly I want out to Crows or Port, Freo move to plan 2 and thats to try to get the best possible deal for him. They might talk PSD if Crows or Port try to low ball them (ala Collingwood - Port in 2003) but both clubs are professional enough not to do that.

If Pavlich makes his desire to move public Freo don't have a choice. If they burry their head in the sand and not listen to any offers all thats saying is that players and player managers will always be reluctant to deal with them in the future. Freo all of a sudden would not become an attrative club for players anymore because it would send them the message that the players are not treated in the right manner.

Make no mistake, Freo won't be easily pleased in the trade week (if it got to that point) but they won't be ****wits about it either. If they boned Pavlich in that manner then they would REALLY struggle with the relations to potential recruits down the track. Everyone knows that Pavlich has been as loyal to that club as anyone has ever been. He has stuck with them through the toughest of times. He re-signed with them after a 2 win season just so the club would get some recognition. He helped repair that clubs image and put Freo on the map so to speak to the point that players now want to play for Freo (see Tarrant, Heath Black, Josh Carr etc). For them to bone Pavlich would just stuff up that goodwill that he has helped them build over the years.

Freo won't do that and both SA clubs are professional enough to not get into the childish games of low-balling Freo with thier offers because their reputations are on the line just as much as Freo's would be.

Pav could use the threat of the PSD as a bullying tool.

No he couldn't because it won't get him to SA. Quite different with what happened to PA and Stevens, who just wanted to get back to Vic.

I think Stiffey's on the money. IF Pav wants to go the PSD won't be a factor. CC has said publicly that anyone is tradeable. Either of the SA clubs just need to come up with a suitable trade, but there won't be any bargains going. Just fair trading.

Pavlich was a much more promising young player then Sellar was

ok, lets be fair to you, you're not the only one. but this is a myth, and I don't know why you think otherwise?

is it something that you've heard other people say, and just adopted as your own?

because not only is it not true, it is not even close to true.

Sellar was highly rated as a bottom age player, as a bottom age player Pav did NOT get drafted.

they did not share a common junior career.

The problem for the Crows and Port is this. Their first picks will be a late round 1 pick i would assume, somewhere ebtween 10 and 16.
So they will need to upgrade that pick to a top 5 pick plus get another top 8 roughly and maybe a second tier player aswell. So they will need to trade a player to upgade their pick plus another to get a second first rounder and than a third player to add to the trade.
So it will possibly cost either side 3 players plus a first round pick.
In conclusion neiher side would be willing to do that IMO.

bottom line: you don't know, and neither do we.

who the hell knows what would happen at the time.

Exactly why this thread was pointless. Was always going to re-sign. We had 2 chances to nab him, we blew it, we move on.

Bleeding obvious he was going to re-sign .......just think of all the valuable life minutes everyone wasted on this thread :p

1. I think Pav will re-sign
2. I do not YET believe this rumour. where's the substance?

Agreed.

I'd love to get him, even though I think he will re-sign, but its not done until its done.

DT - can you come up with a catchy slogan involving Fruit Tingles similar to your 'Feel the Teal', so we can get a campaign going?

Fingle the Tingles?

Good footballer but not a matchwinner like Pavlich IMO.

Looks like we just have to try and develop our own forwards.
No doubt about it.

It was a comment more in jest than anything. For me as far as KPP, there is none better than Pavlich. Maybe biased, maybe rose-colored glasses but I rate him as the best KPP in the competition and a genuine match winner. In fact, if I had a choice of getting Pavlich or Judd, I would pick Pavlich withiut a hint of hesitation :o

I think in a league such as the AFL clubs now know that they cannot win a flag every year and that everyone goes through rebuilding stages.

The crows at the moment are on the brink of going into that rebuilding stage; in the next 2-3 years i would say, when the like of roo, macca, edwards, bird, basset are no longer around.

It seems to be a pretty common theme that Jimmy is 2-3 years away from being able to play AFL football, where as the pav is ready to go now.

Fremantle will not be getting a terrible deal either for if James can live upto his hype me may very well turn out to be better the PAV. Pav has a proven record and his a star of the game and i must admit would look sensational at CHF forward in a blue red and yellow gurnsey.

If trading James Sellar to Fremantle meant we would get Mathew Pavlich would we or should we do it?
Pav to remain in perth, you,ll hear it soon. So no question to ask.

I also think he'll remain in Perth and some how it's a kind of good. I would LOVE to have him but the posibilitly of him coming home he also has the option of Port and I would Die if he went there and 2nd it's the players we would have to give up to get him......I don't really want to see any of them go!
