Jimmy & Timmy sign on...

St Kilda has locked away two of its most important players with Jimmy Webster and Tim Membrey inking contract extensions this week.
Turning his back on free agency, Webster has signed a three-year extension that will see him remain in red, white and black until at least the end of 2022.
The 25-year-old emerged as one of the Saints’ best in the first half of 2018 before being hampered by a minor groin injury.
The elite ball user has played 82 games since being drafted with pick 42 in the 2011 AFL Draft, excelling in the past two seasons as the Saints’ quarterback out of defence.
Membrey’s signature on a two-year contract extension ensures he will remain with the Saints until at least the end of 2021.
The mobile forward has topped the Saints’ goalkicking charts in the past two seasons and has again been the club’s spearhead this season.
Despite being just 24 years of age and a veteran of only 67 games, the young forward has emerged as one of the Saints on-field leaders in 2018.
General Manager of Football Simon Lethlean said the pair were key signings for the club.
“Jimmy and Tim have both become extremely important players for us and future leaders, so to have them both committed to the Saints long term is exciting.”
“The pair are really close mates and have a big influence on our entire playing group on and off the field.”
Lethlean said individually they had both stepped up this season.
“Jimmy is a courageous player who is a strong one-on-one defender but also someone who sets us up with his kicking skills,” he said.
“Tim has enjoyed a strong second half of the season and continues to lead a very young forward group.
“Both guys will continue to improve in the coming years, which is exciting for Saints supporters.”

Comments:
Not the best game for Jimmy probably his worst for the season. 5 turnovers for the game from 13 disposals is going to hurt every time especially when they are turnovers in your defensive half leaving you exposed. Hoping to see better from Jimmy next game. You are allowed one bad game every now and then when you've had the season he has had. Just got to get back to the way he was playing and finish off the season strong.

Jimmy Webster still has a fighting chance to play in Saturday night’s clash against the West Coast Eagles.
It was feared that the important defender had broken his hand in last round’s game against the Giants.
Webster will undergo further tests this week to determine his availability for the Round 8 clash with the Eagles after scans cleared him for any break.

Jimmy Webster is firming for a comeback after two consistent performances in the VFL.

Niggling back and hand injuries have limited his time in the senior side, with the 25-year-old last pulling on the red, white and black in Round 8.

While the Saints have found defensive gems in Callum Wilkie and Josh Battle, Webster’s return would be a welcome addition.

The larrikin Saint averaged 21 disposals and five rebounds per game last season to poll in the top-ten of the 2018 Trevor Barker Award.

Rebounding defender Jimmy Webster is also in the selection frame to face the Blues, with his spring off half-back a suitable replacement for Coffield.

The left-footer was held off last week as a precaution, but after two games in the VFL is nearing his damaging best.

Jimmy Webster is no stranger to injury, and unfortunately, Season 2019 was one of those years.
After a consistent start to the season, the rebounding defender was sidelined first by a hand injury, and then a long-term back complaint.
Webster found his way back into the VFL in the remaining rounds of the year, but the risk of playing him at senior level far outweighed the reward.
Just like several other injury-hit Saints, the No. 29 will look to hit the ground running in 2020.
BEST GAME:
Webster was at his best off half-back against the Demons, showing glimpses of his stellar 2018 form with 20 possessions, seven rebounds and five marks.

Coming up against one of the most well-oiled defences in the league, the Saints will need to match their opposition’s class with some refined skills across of their own half-back line.

Jimmy Webster could be the man to provide just that.

The rebounding defender hasn’t featured in the senior side since Round 8 of last season, with spates of hand and back injuries confining him to the sidelines.

But with Webster inching towards his best form, his inclusion into the side could add a layer of potency to the Saints’ counter-attack.

Able to play tall and small and not afraid to squeeze a precise kick through the middle of the ground, Webster’s clean footwork could come in handy this weekend.

Saints fans have been itching to see Jimmy Webster back in the line-up, but they may not have to wait much longer to see him back in St Kilda colours.

The 93-gamer has missed a sizeable chunk of footy through hand and back injuries, but has built his fitness and game-sense over the past few weeks to mount a compelling case for a long-awaited recall.

Played his first senior game in a year and did well . Played for periods on Toby Green and , although Green got a fair bit of the ball he was always under pressure from Webster and the other defenders . Green was gifted the first goal when the umpire paid a mark that had obviously gone through Paul Hunters hands first . Great to see Jimmy back playing .

So good to see Jimmy back to his old form and have him fit again . Seems to have reestablished himself in the team with Paton out injured for the year . This game against the Eagles was a reminder to all Saints fans about how good a defender he is .

Defender Jimmy Webster is a chance to return to the side this week following a groin injury sustained against the Tigers.

Webster, who also missed the clash against Essendon due to concussion, was ruled out of the game against the Power, but is likely to be available for selection.

The 27-year-old is only three matches shy of his 100-game milestone.
