Toast JJ The Roadrunner

untitled.png

Loved this kid from the moment I saw him running around at Willy and is fast becoming one of the competitions best game breakers!!!

When he is streaming forward I just think of the old cartoon as no one can get near him once he gets a full head of steam up

Great to see he is contracted to 2017 as well as I reckon there would be a few sharks circling

Roadrunner, that coyote's after you. Roadrunner, if he catches you, you're through

JJ has impressed me so much, what a weapon off the HBF. Always willing to run and that includes push back hard to get back and try and cut off opposition attacks. Has played every game this year I believe, would love to get him a week off somewhere to rest before finals (if we make it).

Tell me a more visually impressive player in the game than this bloke.

Yarran and Brad Hill are stylish, but JJ has given us something every single week this year

I was firmly in the camp that he wouldn't make it because he didn't have enough confidence in his own ability. Goes to show what confidence can do. Please note Michael Talia.

looks like bevo has instructed him to just take off whenever he gets it

His decision making still has a way to go but he is getting there.. My only critique is that he needs to keep his head up when kicking to ensure that he is kicking to one of our players that has a chance of marking.

A few times yesterday he kept kicking to our blokes who were 1 on 2 or 1 on 3, and on the occasion missing the target (kicking over Redpath's lead)

The sheer pace of the bloke is something to behold.

Has the appearance of being faster than anyone else on the field (reminds me of Lewis Jetta circa 2012).

Ha ha! every time he takes off on one of his runs now I'm going to be hearing 'Meep Meep'
They should strap a beak on him and stick a rubber glove on his head!

I thought Talia was ok yesterday, he got forward a bit too but was in 2 minds with his disposal at times when across half forward.

JJ's only 2 bad games were against Melbourne and Port who both tagged him, he's a weapon and if the tag comes his way the next 2 weeks we need to find ways of getting him into the game

And to think when Jason McCartney got to the club, he thought JJ was the work experience kid.

His 2013 season had me convinced he was a long term piece, until it was ended by Jeremy Cameron. Glad he's been able to build on that.

This may not be popular, but i see Roarke Smith and others
having more defensive integrity than Jason Johannisen i see
him as more of a Brad Hill clone on a wing, run and carry
specialist 80 metre player blah blah blah. I thought he may
have lost his bottle a little after Jeremy Cameron nailed him,
but he has to his credit came back very well.

Love JJ, he has no fear and will take anyone on, gets all his team mates moving and in the game, hugely important for us. Disposal has improved dramatically as well, that was always my knock on him. Still misses a few targets but at the speed he's moving it's not surprising. Really stoked for him and love having him in the red white and blue.

Also I reckon he's a more than capable 1-1 and 3rd man up defender, and B-Mac did the right thing sticking him in a back pocket for two years.

The Cameron hit had far more to do with his lost form and confidence than any coaching issue. Glad he's over that now and he has resumed his excellent 2013 form.
Has been remarkably consistent too and underrated defensively.

His kicking at full pace is improving too, he generally gets the ball in a useful area when at full pace these days (no mean feat). Something a lot of players struggle with (Wojack comes to mind).

Factoring in value, obscurity and his rapid level of improvement, JJ has to be Dalrymple's crowning glory.

He is probably the one player (touch wood) I would be most devastated to see get injured before the finals.

Actually I think he is now my favourite player. Sorry Bont's, I still meh you!

Could argue that honor would be split between Dahlhaus and JJ at the moment.

More just from where he plucked him from. Was averaging 10 possies for the Sharks in WA. Dahl while unloved by us and other clubs came through a far more conventional program.

The Sharks colts, at that. Fantastic find.
