What happened to Parish? was hyped all pre season and has been bog average in both games same with Langford both lock for the VFL.
Yep we're in a better spot than this time last year for sure! No Hooker for now but there was no Francis last year. He looked so good at times tonight. And you look at how Stringer, Francis, Tippa and Joey started off last season, for a variety of reasons. Hooker is a slight concern though, obviously.
Yep, and he's the "pressure barometer". Joey didn't have the best game but he was moving well and jumping freely which is what I was hoping to see.Smith only had 4 tackles, he had only 1 at halftime. Last week was 50% and tonight was 75%. At times we snapped out of it and went hard but still think we gimped the game. The younger players cant help themselves at times and go like a cut snake.
It's a good time to put some money on the lads I think.
My only genuine concern is Joey!
Remember when Woosha said that one of his objectives was to make sure that we peaked at the right time of the year, not at the start. This was after Ess had started like a house on fire for several seasons in a row only to fall in a heap in the back end of the season. Last year we left our run too late, hopefully we will have learned from that. How do our coaches believe we are in a position to experiment in our only 2 pre season games.
The excuse if we lose will be that we are still learning a new game plan, Then why didn't we practice it when we had the chance?
Our 1st time playing our new game plan will be round 1, Does that sound crazy to anyone else??
Oh yeah...and...Langford is a massive worry. Seems incapable of getting in the play. Zero aggression.
They've set you an interesting challenge for the round 1 game day thread, for sure. Good luck!Thank god the Mickey mouse s**t is over.
Bring on the real stuff
True, is it still played midweek during the season proper? We're still in with a shot at the Escort Cup though.
We never won the Wizard Home Loans cup though. That should open a few eyes as to why we've lived in the land of mediocrity for so long. We're still in with a shot at the Escort Cup though.
You have to wonder how he has managed to convince the coaches to have so much faith in him.
If he has been impressing at training and reverts so effortless to a laconic style that doesn't belong in a second tier competition how pissweak is the training standard?
It’s hard to see on tv wtf he is doing outside the play.
Just seems to get the odd link up handpass here and there and disappears off the map for another 10 minutes.
Intra club match sims don’t mean s**t.
Anyone can run around and get a bunch of touches cause there’s no real pressure or opponents on you to make you work really hard.
I think he just gets lost in real games because the speed of play is so much more intense.
There seems to be no real defining position he’s actually suited to either.
Frustrating for us fans perplexed about what his actual role is in the team.
He’d better start getting into it or he’ll find himself back in the top 5 best in the VFL side every week languishing in no mans land unable to cement a senior spot.

Not too worried about the results of the games but the 2 things that send the wrong message was our attack on the contest (was it due to the fact that they were practice games or are we soft?) and Langford/Parish really do not seem up to midfield roles. Not sure how much to read into it but it’s been very underwhelming so far. It’s hard to see on tv wtf he is doing outside the play.

Amazing,' don't worry it's only a practice ' , 'the boys are a bit rusty', 'learning to play with each other', **** me, what the hell have they all been doing since november.
We're in for another year of frustrating crap.
