Poholke and Otten out, everyone else remains, Gibbs and Talia come into the side
Reckon Kelly and Yolmen will come out for round 1. Also either Jacob's or ROB obviously will come out for the Hawks. Last out for round 1 will be between Hartigan, Fogarty, Douglas and Jones imo.

So we can rule out Greenwood from round 1 as expected he is underdone.

Gallucci I gather is injured, so unlikely too.

So 4 to drop out after JLT2:
Sauce v ROB
Keath v Hartigan v Talia if underdone
2 of Jones, Fogarty, Murphy & CEY
Not sure if Knight and Kelly have done enough to guarantee R1 selection. But I think that’s right. My guess would be Keath, ROB, Jones and Fogarty miss out.

May need to check out Kelly JLT game against Port, he played himself into the best 22. And it will take a bad game on Friday to displace him. With Brown out.

I saw it, did you? He was ok, but to say he was so great he is now a nailed on starter for R1 is hyperbole. As I said I personally think he makes the 22 but I could see us covering Brown with Milera/Smith/resting mid. I think it will ultimately depend on how we are planning to rest Gibbs/Sloane/Brad when they aren’t on the ball.

Saw the game and the replays, Kelly needs to stuff up big time to miss the Hawks rd1 Games. More so with Brown missing, And Milira and Smith are better off running the ball than defending a player. With Brown out we need a defender as a replacement.

Norwood, Canadiens, Maroons.
the last line of defense is seymour and butts!

also last person on the IC, Maddy Hayes?? Paddy? Matty? Maddy is odd.

no himmelberg either, but he should only be a week or two away
Shouldn’t Maddy be playing in the AFLW?
As for Seymour Butts, everything is coming up Millhouse.

Talk about a melt.

Kelly is pretty much our only viable defensive option with Brown injured.

Hartigan vs Keath would have been a tough choice
I’d send Gibbs or Douglas back before playing Kelly. Having both Kelly and Hartigan in the side is just not viable. Their skills are atrocious.

As for Hartigan vs Keath being a tough choice, I find that a bit rich. It’s easy. One is an infinitely better one on one player against talls, and he also has infinitely better skills and makes better decisions. He is also coming off a fantastic finish to 2018 and his first uninterrupted preseason. I’m baffled by it.

The only time it’s a tough choice is if we’re playing against a side with a mosquito fleet forward line. Hartigan comes into the frame there because he has shown that he can play on smalls (eg R Gray). I don’t see Hawthorn as that side.

Look, maybe Keath ends up playing against GWS and then gets a gig in Rd 1. I just think the fact that he’s on an extended interchange, and the fact that Campo said that only 22-23 guys are actually going to play tomorrow night has all the makings of Hartigan playing the full game and Keath essentially being an emergency.

Hope I’m wrong.

Jones named on the park.

Boom.
Wing too. ****, he may be a candidate for midfield minutes season 1.

Tell you what if he does that, he's exceeded every expectation I had for him this year already.

Knight has, he has last season to fall on and fills a niche that we just desperately lack. Kelly would also have a round 1 selection due to a certain injury and Kelly being the beginning and end of our small defender depth

1) Chayce spent most of his game time on the wing in the under 23 trial.

2) We said we were only taking 23 players but we were required to name 26. Keath will be rested or play at the Parade. He has played virtually two full matches so far so I wouldn’t read too much into the non-selection.

3) Campo stated on 5aa that we want to test the likely round 1 team in near to normal match conditions. I expect that we will limit the interchanges and a couple of players will play little or no game time providing we don’t get injuries. I wouldn’t be surprised if ROB gets plenty of splinters along with Riley Knight and Brouch.

4) Mitch Johnson is a young lad that played in the Southern League last year and made the SA Country team. After his kick in the under 23 trial match I am reluctant to repeat my previous statement that he is a great kick.

5) Don’t write off THE MIGHTY THOR or the AMAZING BRAN NUE MACKAE for round one.

1) fair bit of difference between U/23 match and a dress rehearsal. It is very promising.

I won't touch 2-4)

5) Mighty Thor - Good. Amazing Bran Nue Mackae - Not good.

I think Keath can be better, but so far Hartigan has been the stronger 1v1 player.

Hartigan - the first official "gold card" bearer of 2018. Gets a gig despite having been comprehensively outperformed by Keath, whenever Keath has been given an opportunity over the last 12 months.
Is this your way of admitting that you got it very wrong? Would be interested to compare their per game b&f voting. Keath has been ok, but comprehensively outperforming Hartigan is pure fantasy. I thought they were probably close enough that both would play and perhaps this game would be a bit of a duel. But how you managed to fool yourself into believing that Hartigan had certainly been passed by Keath is a bit of a mystery. There was no evidence of that being the case at all.

To be fair to MJ, his kick in the last quarter basically hit the player lace out and that player then ran straight on to slot the match-winning goal straight in front from 48m.

The only thing he needs to do different next time is to try to kick it to his own teammate instead of the opposition player on the mark.
