By the way I’m acting? Simply stating a fact. May has history against the Lions - Martin, Rocky and now Berry. You think it was fair play or a courageous act? Give me a break...
My second post was just a smarta$$ reply to a sarcastic comment. Perfectfooty, feel free to give me a holiday if u feel necessary. Won’t shatter my world.

Today was not a good day let's be honest about that. Significant injury to Harmes plus possible significant injuries to Preuss and JKH. A week or two on the sidelines for May. Being outplayed by Brisbane for 80% of the game. Allowing coast to coast scores too often.

But the positives for me were:

Joel Smith - don't forget he was highly touted two years back before Riewoldt drove him into the turf on debut. Injuries galore since then but he can mark, he can run, he can pressure and he can find the middle. Round 1 certainty if he's fit.

Weideman looks a proper player now. Not enough marks close to goal but was clunking them further up the ground on a regular basis and used it well.

Hunt promised the world early on before fading.

I'm curious as to the days and days of research McAvaney allegedly puts in. Doesn't take a lot of research to say the same things over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
YES! Mcavaney is a horse racing caller and has no idea about how to add meaningful insight into commentary on AFL football. I hate listening to his saccharine twaddle.

I'll save my melts for the end of Round 1. But after witnessing the game today and watching the game last week, we don't seem to have fixed up the two main problems we have. Our speed out of defence, and our F50 entries. In fact, if anything, we have gone backwards. It's not about work rate, I understand it's just JLT and work rate and minutes can be manipulated easily, but we were blown away in that first quarter by a bottom 2 side from last year on our home deck basically. Hunt looked a little better today down forward which was something. And JSmith looked dangerous down forward. Unfortunately, if Joel Smith is our most dangerous forward in a game, we are in trouble. TMack looks frustrated having the best backman on him, and Weid is still very raw and besides the couple of finals last year, he really hasn't put together a decent set of consistent games that suggest he will get close to replicating Hogan's goal tally. Melksham in will help the F50 entries a little, but it still looks very untidy. This should have been a priority over summer really. We have proven we can get the ball down there, but we look like a team with no plan once we get it down there! I thought we would see some improvement, we haven't.

A few things going against us atm, so let's see how we respond in Round 1 when the real stuff starts. But there are some worrying signs that both teams in JLT scored easily against us in patches to create big leads. May will be better for the run, but hardly looked the gun we require. Lever had a shocker in the first 5 rounds last year, we can ill afford May doing the same thing with such a tough draw this season. Port Round 1 at the G should be a win. If it isn't, the lynch mob will start to light their torches. The weight of expectation has never been good for this club. Fingers crossed we can revers that trend.

Some of the melting on social media has been horrid
Silly. It’s a mark of a maturing, professional side to look like spew in the preseason. We handled it very very maturely and professionally.

well that was pretty much what I expected. the backline out of sorts with players looking uncertain of each other.with new players down there it may take a bit of time before the backline gels.
the forward line lacking goal crumbers and defensive pressure. same as last year really. but Hunt looked good forward, well better than as a defender anyway. at least he can get separation on a defender down there. something we need more of.
midfield was still a bit undermanned, but soldiered on. hpefully some experienced players returning will go some way towards fixing that.
all in all, we were generally sloppy. I think it may take a while before we get going this year but am confident we'll be improving the longer the year goes on.

That's not what i'm saying, player disposes of the ball and May chooses to bump late.

I agree it's soft as **** but with May's history of getting suspended for this stuff he probably should of not bothered especially in a JLT game that means nothing
he didnt ******* bump though. He stood his ground...........................................................what is he supposed to do?

Here's the incident. May well have clipped him on the jaw. Will be up to Michael Christian's chook lotto really.

Going to be lots of embarrassed people around the club if he cops a week or two. Would suggest his paycheck* for any time he misses would be going to a charitable cause.
If that is a suspension I am honestly done with this game.

Can’t comment too much on the game. Had a wedding on. We from all reports played a scratchy game and seems lions played well. They’ll trouble a few teams this year. Not ready for finals IMO. I’m becoming a touch worried on the amount of players having interrupted pre seasons though. Although Clarry was interrupted and playing fine. Also how good is Brayshaw going!
Smith showing good signs.
Good that Harmes will be good to go round one.

I don't understand the alternative, is May supposed to spend near on 10 years in the gym in pre seasons so that when Berry comes at him he jumps out of the way?
If May moves out of the way it's an easy 1-2 for berry.

**** sake people have seen how hard May can hit, if he wanted to that little Brisbane campaigners head would have imprinted the turf at Casey

Can’t help but think that what the league decides regarding whether discipline is warranted for that incident, will go a long way towards determining how effective our defense is, and by extension, how well our season goes.
