How is playing brander round 1 realistic?

I would say he would be a contingency if both Jk and Nic aren’t quite right round 1. Given the importance of both those guys, real possibility they don’t play round 1.

That would push Lycett & Vardy to fill the ruck spots. We’d need a second tall to help JD, if even to provide a contest.

Waterman would likely be ahead, but I don’t think it’s out of the question that he is strongly considered if that scenario arises.

The problem i see with duggan as an inside mid is how he carries his body weight and the way that he runs. He looks to be super ripped and very strong but he pulls his power from his upper body and keeps his centre of gravity quite high. Means he will really struggle to break tackles. Needs to have some training in regards to body mechanics and the style with which he runs and trains and he could be the full package.

That and he needs to learn how to ****ing kick for goal or become best in the league at spotting up a forward.

And now let me give you the frustrating side of Ah Chee.

He’s a player who has all the tools but he’ll never be aggressive enough at the highest level - and when he is aggressive he’ll do it at the wrong time by leaving his man who winds up being the catalyst for the opposition to score a goal. He’s also poor defensively and doesn’t block effectively for teammates - the reason why we went and secured Rockliff was because we knew we needed another big bodied clearance mid to support Wines, Ebert and Powell-Pepper and Ah Chee just couldn’t cut it against quality mids.

At SANFL level that sort of shit doesn’t get exploited, but in the AFL you’ll get burned every single time.

He’s a poor man’s SPP. If you can get him with the run through a brick wall attitude that Sam has, he’ll be great. But really, most posters on our board were deceived by a long handball.

I see you're still upset about the final.

The mechanics are all well and good but I think he needs to get his hands on the pill more, hit targets and hit the score board whilst contributing defensively.

ideally he won't have to break tackles

And Yet he was so loved on your board Janice

I've got moderate expectations for Ah Chee. Going to be interesting to see how the midfield shapes up this year.

Generally need about 8 mids. Not much certainty about who will be filling the last few spots.
Da faq? How is Yeo not an A grader? He was AA last year

Any inside mid has to be able to break tackles or get the quick hands away. They should be getting 60% + of their possies in tight so getting tackled is a given. This to me is his biggest weakness, and one that was still exploited in the AFLX. He needs to do work with Shuey on his shrug.

Yeah, the way he runs looks a bit awkward, as if he's always trying to keep his back as straight/upright as possible.

Arch played both roles for our SANFL team. Mid wise doesn't shirk a contest and as for HFF can take a specky moves quickly
and pretty reliable kick for goal. Got an X factor about him too.

Anyway this is your board and I've said enough already. No injuries for both teams this w/end and congrats on your new stadium.
Do you believe that we can play both Edwards and arch in the same side? both similar players.

Cheers Janus.

Duggan inside is yucky imo

Thanks for the summary- I think that’s probably a fair comment on his career up until now.

It may be the reason why Hinkley hasn’t played him despite the good SANFL form. However I have heard on numerous occasions (outside of here) that ken does play his favourites and it seems he is on the fringe of that. I do wonder whether playing sporadically makes you try too much when you do get a game. (Ie trying too much Rather than focusing on the basics that got you there in the 1st place)

At the very least here, he will get a good run at it- so hope he finds a spot in our midfield.

As for the inside mid situation for your mob- Rockliff is an excellent get. He will allow for Gray & Wingard to play forward of the ball where they can be most damaging.

He should learn how to Doashuey

What' everyone looking forward to the most? I for one can' wait to see Venables and Waterman
Excited about all the new guys but Ah Chee for me. He is the one that if he can hit his potential quickly, could really turn our midfield around. Of course he may not make it as a mid or may end up being average, I am aware of that. But he has the attributes we are sorely lacking. Venables is in the same boat but I am confident he will end up being a very good player and it will just be a case of getting games into him. But it's the unknown possibilities of Ah Chee that I am excited to see. Damn, I am excited by all of it...Ryan, Waterman, Rioli (when he comes in)...Too much excitement, need to lie down.
