Someone has to be average. If every player in the team was above average that would mean an average player in the team would be pretty darn good.you just described an Average player.
We aren't flush with 22 elite players, nor is any team.you just described an Average player.
Agree, worth trialling on a wing.Nelson has pace, much faster than Gaff or Masten. Id rate his skills on par with Masten except Nelson can make and break a tackle.
Also make a good run with mid or defensive forward. Not sure on his goal kicking abilities.
I just hope they at least give him a crack. He looked very good off half back last year prior to injury.

what are you thinking, more in the Mainwaring style- go hard get it and kick it it long?Agree, worth trialling on a wing.
To play on wing u need to have weapons. Speed and skills ideally but at least one of those. He has neither. I am not sure if why people think he is a winger, is it because he is lanky? That’s not what makes someone a winger.
He is a hbfer and if he doesn’t make it there, he won’t make it. It’s not his defending that’s the problem.
Had a little giggle at this comment.Id rate his skills on par with Masten except Nelson can make and break a tackle.
Have you ever seen this bloke play? He would have to be in the fastest 2 or 3 at the club.
Defending most definitely is his problem, he makes a lot of silly errors and doesnt have the decision making capabilites of when to roll off his man and when to pick him up.
I think wing would be his best spot. If we play Jets of the HBF where I hope we do, then we don't have many wingmen left. We have Gaff who runs all day but doesnt have a lot of pace so we really need someone quick on the other wing and Sheed is not it. Venables might be worth a shot there in the meantime cos Nelson needs to prove himself to get back in the Seniors.
Jetta is a half backYou do know Jetta plays on other wing? And still has a higher production rate than Nelson. People see wing as one of those easy positions where it’s easy to adapt to. Given Nelson has zero decision making ability (at the moment), I can’t see him being a success there. Venables is a half forward. You need stamina to play on wing.
As for being fastest 2 or 3, he is faster than willie Jetta and Ryan? If so, god help us. God help us.

Wingmen in general are a bit old fashioned. Not many genuine ones in the league.
Most seem to want to move underperforming players there in the hope they do something.
He's a far superior player in general.Look, he's not popular but if we're going down this path Masten would be a better winger than Nelson- better endurance and a better kick.
That too. He's a far superior player in general.
I think him (Nelson) moving to a wing/midfield rotation is definitely worth a crack, preferably if it's via East Perth.
With guys like Redden and Hutchings stepping up this year I could easily see Nelson playing the sort of roles that those two played most of last year - low rotation inside mid spending the rest of the time in the forward line.
