Nelson did a great job on Zaharakis as a run with too lets not forget. So much so Zaka had to have a week off after losing his cool.

No one remembers two raking runs down the wing vs Freo last year. One of which was a JJK on the tit for a goal i50?

I don't really don't know why so many people are down on a pick 50 kid who has shown some really good signs amongst some pretty inconsistent performances. I am sure we would all give him a lot more rope if he was a first rounder. Everyone has a hard on for the Duggler and he spent most of 2016 scrubbing every kick he attempted.

Redden in particular definitely seems like he's going to step up to a bigger role.
understand that, but he struggled for consistency last year.
I have my fingers crossed that players like Redden and Jetta will succeed in new roles this year, because we really need it, but let's wait a few rounds before we applaud the moves as successful.

Where have I applauded it as a success?

I'm just saying there's a big gap with Priddis and Mitchell gone, and Redden in particular, and to a lesser extent Hutchings, are looking like they'll be asked to step up to bigger roles in their absence. Which will in turn create a gap that Nelson could be useful in.

Look, he's not popular but if we're going down this path Masten would be a better winger than Nelson- better endurance and a better kick.

If its got **** or an engine it going to give you trouble, likewise playing Masten. If you are going to take a squad forward there's no point going to the repeatedly tried and consistently failed. Far better to try new things, even if it means sinking games into younger but currently lesser players.

Amazing isn't it. 3 'bad' (I only saw the AFLX game) preseason games and all of a sudden he's gone from pleasantly surprising late pick to delist material.

Development isn't a linear process. It's OK to go backwards a little bit if the guy has the right attitude and work ethic and if there is one thing Jacko has shown so far it's that he has that.

So what do we want to see on Sunday?

Personally:
- a win. I know results aren't the be-all and end-all, but it's the last game before round 1, and you'd hope we are good enough to beat the dockers, even though our outs are a bit more influential (Naitanui, Kennedy, Vardy, Ah Chee v BHill, SHill, Bennell, Logue)
- good performances from our fringe players. We need Rioli, Ryan, Waterman and Venables to give the selectors some confidence. I don't think Ainsworth will play round 1, but a strong performance would give us another option. If Ryan can play with a bit more composure before disposing that will help him a lot I think.
- no injuries, especially to Lycett and FMac. And a decent game from Scotty.
- a functioning forwardline, where we can get a few goals from crumbers and hit a few targets with low passes into the 50.
- a better showing from LeCras and Darling, a bit of intensity.

Bhill and Shill out for Freo are pretty big outs. They are probably their best run and carry players and best i50 kicks.

Freo's on ball division will be pretty much full strength - Sandi, Fyfe, Mundy, Neale so it will be really important to see if our on ball division can at least halve the contest with them.

I also want to see our forward group keep up the pressure. They did a good job in JLT1 so it's important they persist.

Seems strange if we play all 26. Perhaps a couple will only get a run if there are injuries.

Venables, Ryan, Waterman, Brander and Ainsworth have played all 3 games so they might be on limited minutes coming into the last JLT match.

Loved all of that bar the first 20 seconds. Three years later I don't think we can still use the 2015 GF as our motivation. Maybe last year's pantsing in the semi would've been better.

I liked you better when you were a mod (insofar as you could ban me if I disliked you openly)
