Your over reacting.

Take a chill pill and stop being so impatient.

There are no certainties in life so why would B
Nics return be any different.

The club cant say either when he will or wont play.

Amazingly for the first time I agree with Gary Lyon. Club should simply rule him out and if he gets up for round 1 thats a bonus.

I think the club already said what’s going on. Simpson said they need to build NN. I took this as that the intensity needs to increase slowly due to injury and they do this build until there is (I imagine) a bit of soreness, then pull him back. Then they build up again and so forth and each time there is 5% improvement or 10% or whatever.

It’s not one of those injuries where if you rest for 4 weeks you are good to go. If you need to build up strength in muscles or ligaments or whatever, response rates are different for every person. That’s why no one can be ruled in or out, because during each build up, response rates are different.

Maybe physio experts can explain better.

I don't buy into the entire "the club can keep as much information to themselves" shit at all. I'm a paying member, I'm entitled to know what's going on with what I'm paying for.

The Eagles still live in the early 90s where they think playing smoke and mirrors with injuries and selection are going to give them a competitive edge. It's not. It's 2018 now and clubs are much better prepared for contingencies.

I agree entirely with the sentiment in the first paragraph. I think the reason behind the constant goalshifting on this stuff isn't some clever sleight of hand, though. I think they just want to avoid owning up to the fact that his injury management hasn't worked as planned and/or has been shithouse.

It speaks to a lack of confidence.

Galileo9 - I agree- this backs that up. We do sell a fair bit of merchandise, but in the grand scale of things this doesn’t really impact on our bottom line.

Winning most certainly does. So to suggest we just try to make money and not bothered about the on field result is a strange argument.

I’m not worried if Nic doesn’t play round 1. He will play this year. It seems like he is managing the extra loads we are putting into him- he just needs more to be able to withstand the repeated bursts needed at the top level. Giving him a few extra weeks to make sure he is still going by round 16 is better than rushing him back and we have to rest him for a few weeks mid year.

Plus, I think we can get away with not playing him until round 3 anyway. It’s not like the swans or dogs have a standout ruckman anyway.

Hats off to the clubs not chasing bigger profits through gambling machine revenues.:thumbsu:

Intellectual property? lol

I don't think it's too much to ask for some transparency. Something as simple as "He's not quite right, we've had some complications with his recovery and we're not certain on his return yet" instead of the "He'll be right to go in the next week or 2" that we've been hearing now since November.

If you and others are happy enough to be gobble up the steaming bowl of bullshit that's been served up by the club regarding player availability since forever then that's great for you. Real supporters will just have to question the clubs motives and information in an attempt to ensure we avoid repeats of the crud we've been through already.
Steaming bowl of bullshit ?

They have always said for the whole of preseason they were hoping for JLT 2 .

About a month ago it was known he has had a setback with some swelling and not able to fully jump yet . That they are taking a slow approach to getting him match fit .

Also an article from his surgeon saying he wont be back to full fitness till at least next season . He is going to need to build into this season .

Now we are 3 weeks out from the season and the news is that he may not be ready for JLT 2 and not ready for round 1 .

Club has done fine IMO . I feel we are pretty well informed .

What more would you want from the club ?

His medical reports ?

Natanui to tweet every day a progress report ?

He is probably sick of everyone asking

Was it just me but did it seem like Freo brought the umps? They scored majority of goals from frees, shitty ones too.

Thought young guys fared well and brought loads of pressure, kicking let them down a bit and we could've done even better otherwise.
That was pretty much full strength freo side...

Anyone concerned Stuart Dew might significantly improve gold coast this year? Meaning the 2nd rounder we receive this year off them isn't as valuable, ideal situation is they finish last and we get pick 19 and we win premiership and give them 18. The later highly unlikely.

I come in peace. Fremantle media is beyond useless, any chance you guys have a replay of yesterdays game? Was busy, so couldn't watch it, but would like to watch a replay. Cheers guys!

I think many of us here feel similarly about our own media department. I had to watch the first half of the stream on the freo website because ours was so laggy :(

Interesting you say that, apparently most of the freo board had to watch it on your site because ours was so laggy. Seems like both WA teams are pathetic when it comes to the media stuff huh [emoji17]

How have they been focused on bottom line only rather than winning? Is it just because they make money it automatically means they focus on that?

Especially since winning=higher bottom line+higher bonuses+job security. I doubt clubs make that much money on merch. I certainly don’t see recruiters selling merch on the street so I can’t see where you see the focus is on money and not winning.

Been proven our crowds barely drop off whether we are winning or losing, people don't give up their seats due to Subi's limited capacity, therefore we've been able to 'play it safe' for years.

Hopefully that changes with the new stadium, but we've been content to sit on our fat wallets and go through the motions for far too long.

I think you’re playing the man a bit hard with Obeanie, for what it’s worth.

But that lemmings gif is a bloody pisser.

Possibly, but I haven't had much sleep this week and I'm cranky. :straining:

Nope. They're pretty shit and very young. The Tom Lynch saga will have an impact and he wont stay, which might see the wheels fall off later in the season.

I'm more concerned about where we finish. We could be giving them a top 5 pick.

I think North deserve a fair bit of respect for their stand on pokies. For a club with their financial history some low hanging pokie fruit must take a fair chunk of ethical resolve to resist.

I'm going to bank on the fact (from my own head and based on nothing actually factual) that he wouldn't have made it had he been taken in the draft the season before this one :)

I spoke with another club's recruiter after the 2017 draft. I asked what he thought of Liam Ryan. He said that he interviewed him during the 2016 season and Liam Ryan told him he wasn't sure he was ready. He interviewed him again during 2017 and asked if he was now ready to get drafted. Liam's response was that he felt he was ready, but said that if drafted in 2016, he would've just got homesick and bolted.

Now this is from an east coast club recruiter, so homesickness may not have been an issue if picked up by WCE in 2016 draft, but does show a bit about Liam's development during the 2017 season into someone that could handle an AFL environment.

Doesn't really answer the question about whether we (WCE) should or shouldn't have taken him as a rookie in 2016 draft, but does explain why no one outside of Perth did.

Gold Coast under Dew could be a lot more competitive.

No Ablett to rely on. Other blokes get a crack and naturally a lift with a new coach.

I think they'll be exciting to watch.

Cant believe we lost that game last year! So many games we lost like that last year [emoji52]

I've seen bits and bobs about Nelson and how bad he's been doing this pre season. Is this actually the case? I'd be hoping for a decent year from him given it's his 4th year now.

Been giving away a lot of brainfade free kicks and his disposal has been awful. Not sure what is going on with him but we need him to find form. Will be starting down at East Perth on what we have seen so far which is a backward step from where he was early last year.

He seemed to get lost a fair bit in the Freo scratchy so it is a concern if he isn't getting the new structures/gameplan.

Im only winding you up.

At least we will start getting weekly games soon to give us something worth talking / melting about.

Like McInness leading our rucks with Schofield backing him up.

I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Mutimer only came on in the 4th i think. I saw one tidy little link up possession but not much else...although I was not following that closely in the 4th.

Parto did a few nice things (picked a purples pocket on HB iirc) but hard to get a bead on where the MC sees him at this stage. Hopefully gets another run in the last JLT match.
