Can someone tell me who Steve Silvagni is?
NOJAF
Pretty sure he was Carlton’s Fullback of the century, but somehow comparable to Darling.
He certainly wasn’t as good as Cam Ellis Yollmen though

Well, they kicked a fair few goals themselves which is what happens when you have good midfields.
I think it’s simplistic to assume that Darling automatically kicks more in that side.
I think anyone who analysis the list of leading goal kickers (AFL & Us) since 2010 when Darling joined will see that lots of complimentary players kick 30+ goals a year. Some teams have had 4+ in the same year.
When you look through the list you see some genuine talls, a lot of genuine smalls and a fair few guys who play mid/forward.
My issues with Jack are that with the exception of one season (2012) he’s been a complimentary player who plays as a permanent forward and isn’t really a tall. That seems almost a luxury in modern footy.
Are you somehow suggesting you think he’s a Jono Brown level player? Or a genuinely top level player?

Going to be hard to dislodge that effort
I agree, only sending love the kings wayIn the Democratic republic of Bigfooty, i forbid talking shit about our lord and saviour Jack Darling.
Boring.Hahahahahahaha
You are the one who calls folk names for disagreeing with you remember? In the end you agreed with me but you keep up the passive/aggressive shyte. Relax mate, I get it, your a big fan of Jack and prone to a touch of overrate.
My main aim was to point out that your comparison of him to Jono Brown (which was based entirely on stats as you didn't see him in his youth) is nonsense. You are the one bent out of shape with an alternate view.
But sure, I'll let you sent all the rules of what is "decent dialogue" because, umm, why would I do that exactly? Harden up.

Boring.
You're just looking for a raz, that's cool.
I said "anyone who compeltely ignores stats is ignorant" not directly directed at you but if you fall into that category and get offended okay..
I also said the energy you're putting out is foul, not that you are foul.. note the difference. An observation of your complete confrontational way of asking questions and superiority complex coming through. Just an observation, no judgement. It's all cool man.
Whole argument is redundant anyways as i was merely using a goal comparison not a direct player for player comparison. Note how on my original post I said "if he has kicked around 600 goals by the time he retires at 32 or 33 it will have been a good career" nothing to do with being as good or better than Brown. My whole point was that if he gets 600 goals he could look back at his career with pride.
Anyways, no doubt this will trigger you and you'll find some way to want to continue banging this drum.
Is Brander a chance to get that second ruck/big forward role in Round 1 if NN still isn't ready?

For the stat heads - the attached career summary of Brown is interesting. By Year 7 he had 2 of the best 5 seasons of his career statistically. The stats even in his early years (2000 he was 18 and 2001 a 19 CHF in a Premiership who took 5 marks was second in the team for Inside 50's and top 10 for total possessions in the GF) are pretty good and pretty consistent.
The change was goals per game which was the result of him moving to Full Forward from CHF after Lynch moved on. People do remember the time when those 2 roles were very different right?
Match reports of the 2001 - 2003 GF speak highly of his contributions in each of those games. He was absolutely at his peak right where Jack is now age wise.
I'll stop now
