Numbers, have you ever come across the saying "robbing Peter to pay Paul" in Bible class?

Peter was crucified upside down.

Jesus killed a fig tree with evil thoughts

God got drunk, had a bet with a fallen angel and taunted Job. (Got a framed 500 year old hand painted woodcut on the living room wall.)

These are Bible facts.......man.

The book of Plowman was found as one of the Dead Sea Scrolls and kept from us sinners.

Guys, first time poster. Just got home from Casey Fields. Went with zero expectations, thought there were a couple of positives. Marchbank looks like he will be there for 10 years, rapt with his performance. Midfield looked slow and out worked for most of the day. Overuse of the handball killed us, too many times we tried to flick it around, turnover resulted in easy goals over the back. Pickett looks the goods as does fisher. Thought kreuz battled really hard. We just looked rusty which is to be expected. Charlie Curnow will be an absolute beast! Also bumped into SPS, really nice young kid, said he is going really well and wants to debut on the big stage round 1! Liked his enthusiasm. Only a pre season game and looking forward to the growth of the team over the coming weeks and months. Cheers

Thanks, good perspective. Well done also on chatting yo SPS, I think the young ones get a buzz from meeting who they're playing for

Coming back to earth after all the hype of our young draftees and steering the club back on track gave supporters hope.
We need to remember that our side is very young and without the necessary experience.
The list has lots of talent and members and supporters need to be patient.
We are in the second year of a rebuild and we need to embrace the growth along this journey as we are still a long way back and have lots of work to do.
Nonetheless it was our first hit out and we will only get better.
Melbourne has a strong list with lots of talent and we are where they were about 3 years ago.
Look for the little sprouts as Bolts always alludes to, and enjoy watching our side grow.
It was not that long ago that posters on BF were predicting that we would not win many games and the growth and positives were going to be judged in other areas other than win/loss record.
GET ON BOARD..... GO BLUES!!!!
This is it.

For too long the club & many of its supporters have sought instant gratification & we all know the result of this. The club has now asked supporters to be patient, buy in to the journey & have faith in Bolts & Co, yet here we are after our first practice match & the doomsayers are up & about.

I'm not sure what these people are expecting with the current make up of our list. Murphy, Gibbs & Simpson are quality players, but the rest of our quality clearly lies at the younger end of our list. Docherty, Cripps, Byrne (yes he is a quality player), Weitering, C Curnow, Marchbank, Pickett, SPS, Plowman, potentially Fisher & Silvagni. These kids aren't going to deliver the instant gratification that some still seek, but I am quite confident that collectively they are far more talented than any group of young players we have brought into the club since the draft inception. In 2-3 years, this group, along with our crop of draftees over that period, combined with some more shrewd trades, will see us at the pointy end of the ladder.

DaVinci put it all in a painting once, the secret is hidden in plain sight ... Dan Brown said so.

What we're screaming out for is a fella that can rack up 30 possies.

Black/Mitchell/Diesel type.

Mitchell in the middle makes WCE look yards quicker.

Gotta have a plough in the middle.
Fisher is your man. He's done it at senior level WAFL and showed today in the second half how good he is. Not Diesel, but will be very good for us for a long time.

Mitchell or Dion Prestia...for A grade depth. We are still suffering in all areas while the kids improve...Unfortunately we cant do another Judd deal etc it will have to be a genuine makeover....the ship has turned or began to and its a big ship and its slow and the seas of competition are cruel.
SOS knows this-look at his body language when he talks list...look.plus he is giving up his sons. This is Carlton.
Glad Gibbs wont go now....no spoon this year.

Shorter preseason these days 3 games to hone the gameplan before round 1 with so many new players i feel these games are important not meaningless as the consensus seems to indicate . Another chance to instill a good work ethic on the team but no we stunk it up again effort wise following the last round debacle last year against Essendope in another so called meaningless game . These kinds of efforts (first half) from a young developing side will only serve one purpose to keep us at or near the bottom longer than hoped . There were some good signs Fisher looks a beauty marchbank a general and pickett the oppurtunist but still disappointing in general .
Hoping for a better effort from the team next week scorebord irrelevant .

JLT 1 - not concerned.

The Good :
Marchbank / Plowman / Weitering
Fisher - need to see more but has zip and class
Simmo / Doc
Gibbs and Murph were poo early but warmed up - i dont need their best in this rubbish save for round 1
Game time into Mackay, C.Curnow, Cunningham - none of them were good but had glimpses and just need the time on the park
Kruezer - fit and didnt get injured - still a truck
Le Bois / Pickett - need 1 of them in side at all times if we are to ever kick 10 goals again.

The Ugly :
Thomas / Smedts / Palmer - if they all play in same game and we win i'll bare my ass in Bourke Street (as my old man would say)
Depth players at best - Daisy cooked, the other 2 - you don't get traded for no return if you're any good
Poor defensive structure - not with defenders - with mids who only run one way

Either Saints game or Dockers we will play a really young team and get torched.

It's not the end of the world but our midfield looking undersized and lazy is a slight concern.
There were a few nice signs and I'm particularly happy that Murph, Pickett and Marchbank got through the game unhurt.

Did not like seeing the captain lying on the ground appealing to the umpire for a free kick when the ball was still in dispute and within reach.

Please Murphy, get that crap out of your game.

Wouldn't be to disheartened by what we saw today, Melbourne is at least 4 years more advanced in thier rebuild, beat the doggies last week and also had an advantage of coming up against a team playing there first game for the year, our guys played like they were playing an intra club match.
Remember late last year Cripps and Gibbs absolutely smashed Melbourne's star studded midfield, the sad truth is we are so massively reliant on Cripps.
Think Weitering has to play in the forward line, he may be a better defender at this stage, but we desperately need a reliable target to kick to, Levi is not the answer.
Liked Charlie Curnow picking up 17 touches, kid starting to show he really does have big bodied mid potential.
Fisher winning 10 touches in a half is also a good news.
Marchbank looks like a real player and worth the investment, Cuningham did some nice things, Pickett and Lebois had moments.

plus the rotations- same deal as last year. BB wants us to endure....

Fisher or Polson? It's where Cripps will make a difference. Charlie can find the ball. Like to see Graham get a go this year to find out if he has it. Never really had a go in the middle. One thing we do know is that the kid can find the ball.
