Somewhere, Probably
Other Teams
Boston Celtics, ATP
I haven't seen this thread come up yet so I thought i should start one.

I learnt that there is going to be some very unlucky sides come September. That said I liked that every game were very enjoyable to watch. Didn't really hate anything, probably only if players with injury scares don't recover quickly. Can't wait til the real stuff happens in 11 days. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Not a like, learnt or hated, but a thought.
Would it be such a terrible idea for the top 2 that finished on top of the unofficial pre season ladder play off next week for the pre-season title?
Clubs can use the 4 weeks however they wish, but just a casual thought on how to give it a little bit of context, and hope for some clubs that have struggled.

FWIW, St Kilda vs GWS would have been this year's "final".

Both of them have their eyes on playing off in Spetember. Let the 0-3 teams play off, they need the extra run!

Liked: Tom Hickey's game- 29 disposals (18 contested), 39 hitouts, 10 clearances (5 centre), 7 tackles, 4 inside 50's and 3 marks. Had a breakout year last year, but might take it up another notch this year.

Learnt: We obviously sent Lenny Hayes up to GWS in an undercover mission to train Jack Steele for us. Nice work Len! :D

He's come a long way has Tom! I remember his first goal at AFL level being the most uncoordinated thing I've ever seen.

Liked: Our first half. At our best, we can play some good football
Hated: Our second half. I miss being inconsistent every other week. Now, we are inconsistent from quarter to quarter. Our midfield really is something that needs a lot of work.

Really liked:

- Tipungwuti. What a find for us. Our small forwards are going to give teams a lot of grief this season.
- Parish. I cannot believe that he still hasn't started his second year. So mature and consistent. He is fast become one of our best mids.

From other teams, I really like SPP. That don't argue against Burgoyne was amazing. For those who haven't seen it:

Also liked Clayton Oliver. What an amazing game.

Learnt:

- Collingwood's strong midfield group will get them into finals calculation
- Geelong are still way too reliant on Selwood and Dangerfield
- Melbourne and St Kilda look good
- Richmond and Essendon will do better than what people expect, though still inconsistent. I'll back them to be more consistent as the season goes on.
- Sam Mitchell might be the final piece of the premiership puzzle for West Coast

Jesus, did that actually happen?! SPP on Burgoyne, not sure even Dusty could do that, brutal.

Wouldn't think so I believe the coaches didn't want a competitive model in terms of preparation pre season finals leading into rd 1 that's why the NAB cup format was scraped. And I doubt teams would want to play a 100% game 1 week before round one and risk injuries. With how tough the schedule is now already I just don't see it as viable. The idea will grow legs if the jlt isn't enough for the fans but I like the community cup thus far.

Learn: Brisbane may be better than some think
Liked: Continued development of future stars
Loved: All the draftees at each club are stars already ;)

No you learnt Alistair clarkson and his assistants have a great coaching system hehe Brisbane are still ordinary to say the least.

So true:p.

But there are good signs from a number of recent draftees.

Pepper has been very good at port and Joe Atley and Eddy have shown very good signs.

Florent looks good.

Simpkin has shown glimpses of something's we lack at north, namely x-factor and pace.

Liked: Cotchin playing his best football since 2012 (in the first two matches that is); Nankervis; Butler and Castagana adding zip and intensity to our forward line
Hated: The first quarter against Collingwood. I hope and pray that it was just the senior players taking it easy in the last praccy match. If they bring that lack of intensity to senior games we'll be in for another horrible anus.
Loved: Daniel Rioli (and I'm old enough to have witnessed Maurice in full flight).

No thanks, just another meaningless game risking injuries for the real season.
( I pretty much held my breath through the first three as it was )

What I liked:

What I learned:

- Brisbane youngsters looking good. Will be another tough season but the future is starting to look bright. Hipwood a star in the making.

- Whilst Essendon's first half against Geelong was scintillating, their second half was absolutely putrid - was as if they went to sleep. Happened late against Collingwood as well. A very generous fixture should see them competing for one of the final spots in the eight, however inconsistency might cost them a few games against teams they should beat.

- West Coast look good. Really good. Mitchell for them is huge, if Nic Nat wasn't out with an ACL I'd personally have them second favourites for the flag behind GWS. Should compete though and if they manage to finish top 4 somehow and regain Nic Nat at the end of the season, look out.

- Collingwood's midfield will win them plenty of games. Defence looks ok, not great, forward line might not be as bad as many suspected and they should be looking at finals if their most important players can stay on the park. Plenty of injuries a big concern early though.

- Blockbusters everywhere you look in Round 1, can't ****ing wait. Bring on 2017!

Liked: Powell-Pepper's don't argue on Burgyone! Fanta and Tippa working in tandem in the Bombers forward line. The fact that I feel like the Lions are on the right path under the guidance of Fagan, will no doubt be another tough, inconsistent year, however, I feel like we will compete far more than we did in 2016.

Loved: Eric Hipwood he is such an exciting prospect!

Learnt: The Eagles could genuinely push for a flag. Sam Mitchell will bring out the best in Shuey, Gaff and co. and take some pressure off of Priddis.

That don't argue is the best I've seen on an absolutely brilliant player too. Not bad for a kid :)

For the Bombers - Liked - Our small forwards, Learnt - we will probably have a serious issue with consistency, Hated - injuries and Hooker not having played yet.

In General - Liked - that it's over with, Learnt - Collingwood and to a lesser extent Richmond will be better than I expected, Hated - the JLT.

I would love to see the pre season comp scrapped, more games during the season but slightl shorter length games, less players on the field, more on the interchange bench, and last to touch the ball before it goes out rule....... But anyway, that's way off topic.

For the Dogs I loved Suckling's 3 super goals. If only he would do that in the real stuff!

You want "super goals" in the H&A season...

Dear god.
