What's the go with group interviews? Never heard or experienced them, are they common in specific sectors?

I've done one group interview (just for a xmas casual position no big deal, lots of years back), but I can honestly say it was the best/easiest/non-nervous and even fun interview I've ever had.

The worst is the panel I reckon. So many eyes on you, dunno where to look... STOP LOOKING AT ME. And theres always that "one person" who never says one word in the panel interview. They can go suck a fat one.

:D

All these interviews sound more important than the one real interview I have been to which was at Coles. Dad made me wear suit for it which made me feel like a real tool. Didn't even get the job.
I once gave a job to a guy who turned up to his interview in thongs.

The first "real" job interview was for Hoyts Cinemas. And it wasnt even an interview, I had the job before I walked in the door. The woman had the forms for me to fill out and asked if i could "attend a training day in the city and watch a preview of Independence Day"

I go "um do you want my resume?", Woman: "Oh yeah sure"

:D

Yeh I had one like that. Job didn't turn out well but I walked in the door of what I thought was an interview and there was about 10 others all sitting there. Thinking "this is weird" I soon realized that I must have already got the job and they were just inducting us

Lol.

I loved my job tho- stayed there for 6 years. Free movies/popcorn/drink/(broken)choc tops were the best perks ever.

I've ran out on a interview half way through once, was for a courier driver position, they gave me the job on the spot and asked me to work straight away that day, I said yes but because I'm to gutless to say no and as I was tired from the interview process so I started looking for an escape, they walk out of the room to get some radio that I was to going to be using, so I quickly pretty much ran for it out mission impossible style out the building, panicking while starting the car, then off I was like a hoon. Laughing about it all the way home.

My cousin did a similar thing once, but walking out of a job. Said he was "going to the toilet" and just never went back.

While a suit is a bit much. Black pants and a shirt is still what you should wear to an interview like this.
