all interviews are scripted. for essendon to even agree to this interview i would have assumed that the question would have been handed in before hand. jobe knew what question has already asked and i doubt that anything new has come up that ASADA has already known.

Seriously, why is it an issue if Jobe Watson is just repeating stuff he said during the investigation?
I think most reasonable people would be upset if Watson loses his Brownlow for this. My gut says Essendon will escape with a massive fine and the axe will fall on some people at the club like Bomber Thompson and Dr Bruce Reid and maybe someone else.

If Jobe loses the Brownlow for being the best but (allegedly) not the fairest, should Cotchin and Mitchell get it even though they were the fairest but only second best?

I admire Jobe's honesty. His standing will outlast any sanction that will come his way.

Pretty sure the AFL are secretly on the side of Essendon (because that's where the money comes from) and they'll act like a bunch of c*nts to ASADA and ban players from the offseason or something.

Because the investigation is not in the public forum and when officials from the EFC (including players) start revealing their dirty laundry in public the next phone calls to the president will be from sponsors asking why their brand is being trashed.
We can argue until the cows come home whether it is or it isn't but you can bet your last dollar that this is what happens.

Yes, just as Chris Grant lost his for not being the fairest and it went to Robert Harvey who was second best.

Now, would I like to see it happen? Probably not. Would Jobe have had as good a year without the "supplement" program? Who will ever know. What I do know he is an incredibly good player and leader.

Maybe they can just photoshop all the brownlow photos and add an extra bit of fat on him to compensate the AOD use.

I didnt know much about Jobe the person before the OTC interview.... but what a genuine and honest young man, of complete integrity. As a new father, l would be proud if my son were to follow in his footsteps.

The sad part, people like him have been brought into a tale of deceit, lies and scandal. He doesnt deserve this. My only knock on him would be, why would a young smart man be so naieve to not question the injections.

If the other players are of the same standard as Jobe, l feel for them and you as supporters. However, your coaching panel, administration and others should never be allowed near the game ever again, should upstanding characters like Jobe get brought down.

I want him to retain his brownlow, even if it would benefit Cotchin. He was a standout last year and this not shame him. I dont want your club brought to its knees, too many people are hurt by that. But the club is bigger than the individual and Hird, Thompson and other figureheads should go.

Good luck for the rest of the year and l'm looking forward to seeing Jobe play on the weekend.

They did, hence why the consent forms. That was a player-led initiative by Watson and David Hille apparently.

Connect the dots. Who came to the club, where did those people come from, did those clubs show tremendous achievements all of the sudden

Example, did one club play a superhuman grand final a few years back. With otherwise plodder ruckmen in the twilight of their career, amazingly coming good at this new club, and chasing down running wingman and catch them HTB in Grand Finals, etc

Which grand final was this? Please refresh my memory.

While I avoid this story like the plague, because the deliberate and innocent misunderstandings of most of what has been said drives me to distraction, I just want to clarify one thing which I'm sure has been done to death.

Jobe admitted to taking AOD-9604. He did not admit to taking a banned or illegal substance. The anti-obesity drug, being part of the catch all, is only banned if it is, for lack of a better description, illegal. There is a really significant difference between the admission that the substance was taken, which is what the players have told ASADA, and the admission that it was a banned substance which was taken by the players, which neither Jobe, nor the club has conceded and which has not been proven.

The difference is more than semantics. There are clearly circumstances in which taking AOD-9604 does not contravene the WADA code (i.e. if it was legal to take it). There is a scheme set out for the legal use of AOD-9604. The confidence that the club has that it will be vindicated, especially once it tells its side of the story, has to be a reflection of the legal use of AOD-9604.

For the record, Dave Culbert can go and get ****** too. Talking illinformed bullshit about this saga seems the only way he can cling on to little relevance he has in our sporting landscape.

Stuart Dew was a big man but a ruckman he wasn't.

Yeah, given the author of that particular post was a Port supporter; I'd be pretty sure they were referring to 2007.

Geelong were streets ahead of everyone that year either way- meh.

Oh goodie. A thread where opposition supporters can talk trash about the ASADA enquiry.

If Essendon supporters wanted to discuss the issue with opposition supporters we would use the general forums.

Lock the thread and move on.

Correct. OTC has even told us now that a copy of the questions to be asked, was sent to the EFC days before the interview. Essendon and Jobe where not caught unaware, they knew exactly what was coming and this was a very deliberate admission by Jobe. Also very obvious from the lack of surprise, and follow up questions from the panel, that this was entirely scripted. For what reason, we will soon find out I guess.

I'm thinking Jobe might have some trouble getting Brownlow votes for the rest of this year.

It would be one thing for the AFL to have a Brownlow winner who gets disqualified, it would be another for him to win back-to-back, with the second one basically while the investigation was going on.

Suspect they'll be having a word in the umps' ears about that.

I think that would be the least of his worries. But I guarantee the AFL would not, and cannot influence who the umpires give votes to. It will be obvious if Jobe has a 35 possy, 3 goal game and misses out that something like that was afoot. And that would be classed as "fixing"

Wait after all the stuff that's been going on with betting and match fixing, are you saying the AFL is now going to fix its own MVP medal ?

Agreed.

There's nothing in here that can't be talked about either in the ASADA thread, or on the Hot Topics board if you're a non-Essendon supporter.
