He'll be remembered for the great year he had in 2102.

The rest of the time he's been pretty average.

but he'll largely be remembered as the face of the supplements saga.

Maybe because he put his teammates before himself and conducted himself with professionalism throughout every press conference and interview.

You couldn't fault his honesty and candour during that time. Go well, Jobe, a great career

Great career still be remembered as 2012 Brownlow Medalist
Why, he isnt the 2012 brownlow medalist?
The real shame is we will never know if he was good enough or not, unfortunately his best years coincided with the arrival of Hird and co. Jobe was not quite an A grader prior to this period and hasn't been since so was it Jobe or the Juice?

Or is it just that people dislike cheating?

You can dislike cheating all you like, do the two have to go together? Don't stick up for *******s, unless you are one yourself.

Good ordinary player, who 'coincidentally' became much better at the same time the club drugged him.

Will be known as a cheat, and any achievements will have well deserved *s

So are West Coast with all of their flags but it doesn't seem to bother many people.

*X2 state side. *X1 Drug cheats.

Why do people go into retire threads to bag the player? Noticed the last couple now following suit.

The reality is Jobe Watson was involved in what is the greatest scandal in AFL history and a lot of people are going to resent him for that so it's not much of a surprise that there are going to be people bagging him. Haven't seen any one having a go at Boyd unless mods have cleaned the thread up.

I feel for Jobe, he tends to cop a lot of heat for the drugs saga while the rest of the players get the 'club failed the players' thing.

Good player and had a 1-2 year period where he was legitimately one of the top few in the comp. Just seemed to get 30 touches and a goal or two every week for a while.

People turned on him after the "FEMINIST" hat. Like people turned on Adam Goodes for being a vocal Aboriginal.

I feel a little sorry for Jobe he was caught up in something that as a footballer he couldnt do a lot about but he did admit to taking substances that are now banned, tough to know what he may or may not have been, Hird and Dank trying to take short cuts to success ruined a few Essendon careers and really there was no need, you would probably have been more successful without them in the long run.
All the best for the future though.

congratulations Jobe on a fantastic career! will always be remembered as a club champion, fantastic footballer, great guy and a class act. virtually carried the side single handedly from 2009-2011. we'd be getting thumped and he'd be the only one at the coal face doing the hard stuff.

champion captain and he'll always be the real Brownlow medalist of 2012.

all the best in retirement Jobe!
