Another glory hunting poll. You are on fire. A 23 year old Swallow is a long way in front of a 23 year old Watson. Watson still cannot kick the ball and is slow as a wet week.

But again you have picked a one sided poll. It really should be Lonergan V Swallow - both taken late in the same draft. Put that poll up glory hunter!!

Ahh look who has come out from under his bridge.

First you ask me to make polls and now you have a cry when I do

Your polls are terrible. Why would not not poll 2 players in the same draft and around the same draft position? Gumby & Hanson, Swallow & Lonergan, Grima & Hooker, Reimers & Thomas, Zaka and Anthony, Colyer & Bastanic. Stupid polls are started by stupid people. Good work TH - you have 2 today :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Draft position has nothing to do with it. I was going with the best player each team had in the position. Completly reasonable polls and I have no idea why you are so upset with them to be honest.

Essendons best back kp Pears Vs North's best Grima
Essendons best forward kp Hurley Vs North's Hansen
Essendons best ruck Ryder Vs North's Goldstein
Essendons best inside Mid Vs North's Swallow

*****News Flash*********

Poll results are in.

Essendons young spine is better than North's

Kings Army is upset.

Upset that you make stupid polls? Yeah i am furious!

Petrie is our best forward and McIntosh our best ruckman. Keep making things up - it shows your level of football knowledge.

Why not poll the entire midfield?

So you admit that Watson is better than any midfielder you have yet he is slow and a worse kick than Majek Daw...:eek::eek:

Don't know what that says about your mids.

You poll them if it makes you happy.

I don't need a poll to know the Roos mids are superior to the ones at Essendon. At least we can agree on that.

Still waiting for 5 mids that kick the ball worse than Watson. Is Swallow one?

I have read Team Hurleys post about comparing the best inside mids from each club, but still think this is a stupid poll.

One player is a young gun, 23 y.o I think, and showing signs he will be elite, the other is the captain of his club, and bordering on top 20 players of the competition.

Watson easily for now, in 2 years Swallow will be better imo.

Watson would be just ahead as a clearance player right now at this point in time, however Swallow is a more rounded player.

Swallow is comfortably ahead at 23 years of age in both players respective careers.

What a crock. They are two years and four months apart in age so lets make a quick comparison.

Swallow 2010 21.2 disposals
Watson 2008 24.1 disposals

Swallow 2009 18.7 disposals
Watson 2007 23.3 disposals

Swallow 2008 13.7 disposals
Watson 2006 22.8 disposals

Stat don't tell the whole story but enough to tell me that Swallow is clearly not comfortably ahead at the same age.

Swallow was 23 in 2010.

2010 - 21.2 disposals, 8.3 tackles, 0.7 goals

Watson was 23 in 2008

2008 - 24.1 disposals, 3.5 tackles, 0.2 goals

I rate 4.8 tackles and 0.5 goals a game a lot more than 2.9 disposals.

Swallows free kick count of 52 to 13 compared with watsons 24 to 20 also highlights a harder work rate outside of the centre square.

Perhaps, I could have worded my original post better. However, when I weigh up Swallows work rate and superior aerobic capacity, then I struggle to see how anyone would choose Watson over Swallow at the same respective ages. An unbiased handicapper would have Swallow on a higher projected upswing.

Swallow certainly appears to have enormous potential. But Watson has already improved exponentially, and there's no guarantees Swallow will do so.

Whatever though. The guy's clearly a gun, one of my favs, I've been pumping his tyres for ages

Likewise, Watson is an elite clearance player and Essendons most important individual player.
