He needs to build his stocks back up to get a decent contact. 3 or 4 games in 2020 won't be enough to see him rise in value.
If a team is going to go after him it will not matter whether he plays any more games this year. You don't go ahead and recruit a player 'maybe-ish'. They either fit your Best 22 or they don't. This half-foot out thing is a crock.

"He needs to build his stocks back up" Do you think he will get paid the same amount he would of at the end of 2017? Miles off and I stand by he needs more than 4 games to prove his worth a big paying contract.

Sensational return game the other day , reckon his trade price would now be pushing out to nearly3 first rounders after that.
Well played Mr dodoro , well played!

He was not OOC 2017 so it is irrelevant. The courting implied the establishment of value. Hard to see renegging happening from this point.

Sydney will attempt to secure Joe Daniher’s full medical files before signing off on a bid to recruit the injury-marred forward.

Daniher, 26, has only more game to go before he must decide on his future after his trade request to the Swans fell through last year. While the Swans, Geelong and Brisbane are still interested in Daniher, his scan results and the specifics of his groin rehabilitation program is prized information.

Sydney won’t make a long-term investment in Daniher unless it is confident he is over the worst of the groin problems, which limited him to 14 games in the past three years.

It is a sensible approach from the Swans as they look to add some key pieces to an exciting young list that has remained competitive this season and upset Melbourne one week ago. But it remains unclear whether Essendon’s medical staff will speak with Sydney’s doctors about Daniher’s condition and any specific concerns ahead of the exchange period. Essendon is understood to be reluctant to part with any of the intellectual property surrounding Daniher’s groins as it strives to keep the star goal kicker.

It is customary for club doctors to speak about players’ injuries around trade time, but the Daniher issue is extremely sensitive as Essendon tries to re-contract the free agent.

In particular, the Bombers were able to glean important information when it sent Daniher to see a world-leading specialist in Ireland following surgery last year. It means the Swans and Lions will want to put Daniher through a full medical assessment to check his groins at season’s end before proceeding with the free agency move. That could happen as early as next week if Daniher expresses his desire to explore his free agency options.

Suppose Sydney is only going ahead with a short-term rebuild.

May be trying to contend again before JPK/Parker/Franklin retire

I'm doubting Joe stays unless Essendon agree to match whatever offer swans or lions throw at him. I think he wants assurances and decent coin to make up for the loss of games he thinks he could of played.

i'd be cool with throwing the cash.
We aren't blessed with deep talent, KPF's or players who hit the scoreboard

Got himself back on the pitch this year.
Sign him up (with Saad, McGrath, Ridley, Langford) and get ready for 2021 onwards

They aren't as far away as some think. Probably one of the few doing the rebuild well. Never get blown away. Very competitive, good crop of kids. Probably a couple years. They have a very good system.

Unless Sydney get him as a free agent below market value I'm not sure why they'd be pursuing him right now.
If the contract is big enough it will be band 1, that's pick 7. Doubt any team is trading for Daniher where they have to find more than that, big $, big picks, not happening.

If Daniher nominates a club, it will be on big enough money to get Band 1, Dodo just has to take it and move on otherwise JD is out of contract and can go for free in the PSD if it's out of the Melbourne fishbowl and the Swans he wants. Last time I looked Swans pick before Geelong and Brisbane.

Are clubs allowed to request that information?

Or would they simply ask the player to obtain and provide those records?

Don't think that legally, Essendon could withhold the information from the player?....not that that's stopped them before ;)

To be honest I'm not entirely sure.

Somebody else mentioned that the player can demand his medical records and the club are obligated to provide them to the player. Daniher can then do what he wants with those records. It makes sense to me, as it concerns the player and it is his body. But I have no knowledge to verify that one way or the other.

Yeah the medical stuff is an interesting one.
In most situations, you'd assume it's a given that (probably with the player's permission) that information is free to be shared. If a player wanted to withhold that information from a prospective club, that probably should send a bit of a message to said club.

If there is no obligation to do so, then for sure it's not in the best interests of Essendon to share that. Either it's negative, and we don't really want that getting out as there goes any decent offer for him. Or if it's positive news, then it's a situation where Essendon is trying to hold onto a star player, who is fully fit, and an opposition club wants him, and the only doubt they have over him we are currently holding onto.

Having said that - surely fairly easy way around this. Daniher could easily request the information from Essendon, don't think Essendon could legally withhold that from him. And then from there, Daniher can share it with whoever he pleases.
So probably a moot point in the end.

The spreadsheet will mysteriously disappear, there is a vortex at Essendon that does that!

Its probably the context that is just as important and the outlook etc. Its fine to get pieces of information but you'd want to be able to interpret it and understand the strategies behind what they are doing. The strategies and doctor's views too aren't necessarily part of his medical record but would be mighty helpful.

Doubt he’ll leave.
Really, I can’t see the demand being that high given his kicking woes.
Additionally we need the key position depth anyways.
If he does get a offer we’ll match it because I doubt it’ll be high enough to worry about
