Looks like Joe is gone-all the directors are going to vote him out at a board meeting tonight.

Joe has released a press statement which says in part, " The members will get to vote, I will be back"

as he said he'll be back!

i sincerely hope the members vote him back in at the next meeting
and he can this time get a board that he thinks will work best for the club (not put trust in the existing one)...obviously the back stabbers in the current one were merely using son's of bitches! they'll have to live with themselves me thinks..very very low!

A lot of us here with opinions are not actualy MFC members but you get the feeling Joe might have majority support among the members. I wonder if any of them have had time to do a correct poll of the members ?

But I must say it looks like this from the outside:

1. The board have removed a president who has popular support among members.

2. It looks like they took him in with open arms when he had money to donate but let him 'resign' even though there had been no 'falling out'.

I am glad he has gone. Going by what was said last night, he is acting like spoiled little child. My main concern is on the field. This could ruin us. Hope the meeting takes place after the season, Joe won't though. He could destroy our club.

dees001,

I hope you voiced your concern when the 'board' at melbourne disrupted the 1996 season by announcing a merger.

What crap that was ! When Chris Langford asked why there couldn't be more time to consider it he was told 'we have to get it out of the way so we can draw up next year's fixture !' That was deemed more important than the histories of two great clubs.

I'm so glad there was no merger because if there had been a Melbourne Dawks they would have had continual boardroom clashes until the MCC 'appointees' (note not elected) got rid of the Hawthorn people who didn't have the right background.

Tale a look at the four years under Joe and the previous 40 under the MCC and tell me which were better.

As I said before Melbourne is this close to becoming the laughing stock of the AFL. only recogintion of and reconciliaton with Joe can resolve that. I wonder what reception you will get when you next play a tem in melbourne (probably pity)

Well apart from the merger debate there was very little contreversy at all from what I can recall. And before Joe we were not under the MCC, we went on our own in the early 80's. Anyway since Joe has come, we have been in the headlines for all thw wrong reasons. Also I could not care less what reception we get next time we play in Melbourne.

Poor Joe

He didn't realise that pouring 2.7 million does not give him the right to treat the footy club as a personal possession.

Maybe he will learn that footy clubs are run by Boards, which function accoding to rules, not individuals who dictate, even if they are the Prez.

cheers
