Crikey that bait's off....peeeuuuwww

You don't think the Pies are looking at available FAs?

Moreso than most other clubs?

It's their #1 plan to replenish the list together with trades.

The club already stated "the draft is broken" so they use other methods than drafting 18 yr olds.

They're not going to target Amartey.....even if he is a FREE free agent. One of the Goldy cast offs maybe....
Even the Swans weren't playing Amartey at times last year and they ended up playing Jack Buller in his place. We took Buller.

Thats not correct. The only reason Amartey didn't play last year is because he was injured. Swans rate him a loooong way ahead of Buller.
Amartey is very injury prone. He did a lot of work this off season (with Papley, Edwards & McDonald) with a fella named Bill Knowles to straighten up his body to prevent injury. If he has an injury free year, Amartey will be in high demand and I imagine the Swans will very much want to keep him.

That's all great news from our end mate. You pay and play him. We want competitors.

Yes can see him leaving. A lot of teams will be interested in a 27yo key forward who can pinch hit in the ruck. Think he will get paid handsomely.

How competitive was Jack today?

He actually got more possessions today than poor old Joel averages in his games against GWS. 8 possessions v the 3.5 that big Joel gets against the likes of Buckley and co.

Keep trying mate, you'll do better with better bait though.

This may be one of the all time cherry picked stats haha

Looks like he also only had 5 touches and Sam Taylor didn’t play. And it was a low intensity pre season match sim….not even an official trial game.

Your point is right, Amarty is no where near where he should be for a player his size and athleticism, not surprised you wouldn’t want him.

I think how Logan McDonald goes will determine a lot. If he has a big year(which I think he can) it makes Amartey the third tall. If that happens one of Amartey or McLean isn't playing and McLean has more experience playing as the second ruck.

I like Amartey, he's better than people outside think. He's had some shocker kicking games but can stand up and be very handy aswell.

I'm not sure he's worth a lot of money to Sydney as a player because of the Curnow acquisition as he would be to other clubs.

With Max King unable to play I think he has St Kilda written all over him.

With darling retiring for us we’ll be in the market for a KPF also

Mate, I'm actually impressed with how hard you worked for that. Great job!

He's been absolutely sensational hasn't he Amartey? Playing up to his usual standards. And against such mighty opponents in such tight games. Flat track bully is big Joel.
Always enjoy my days, hope you do as well.

Amartey had one good game and a hundred other ordinary ones.

I wouldn't take him for free.
Ridiculous statement based on our current situation, is a significant upgrade on Brodie Kemp.

Joel would be paid minimum chips at Sydney so don’t think it would take a lot to pry him away at season end when he is out of contract.

He has been sensational, you’re correct.

Thoughts on big bad Jack Buller so far? Recruit of the year, possibly?

Why would he be in the Recruit of the year race? A #13 midseason draft pick traded to us for a future fourth....them's hardly the sort of draft values that scream "Recruit of the year" now are they? But nice try with your stirring!!

My thoughts on the big lump are the same that I saw in pre-season. He looks ungainly and lacking in forward craft (at least in the type of forward craft we use at the Pies which is mainly combative if you're a big bloke). He's trying to run patterns but has found himself running into other players lanes and been told off accordingly.

One thing I've tried to get my brethren to understand is that he wasn't recruited to replace Mihocek (and play a similar role) he's one of three talls we're trialling to replace Mason Cox as a quasi tall forward mobile ruckman. He's a lot more mobile than poor Mason, but as yet hasn't quite found his marking or footy smarts. So....he's a slow cook, certainly not a "recruit of the year" candidate....Dan Houston on the other hand...now he seems to have found his niche.

On face value I agree with this, but I can't help but think he'd probably majorly struggle in our "system".
