I'm going to assume the club isn't confident in its KPD stocks going forward.

Or maybe keep Harry while they develop? Considering both Gardner and House haven't played a game, I'd have thought it's good insurance to keep Harry for another season.

Baring injury, Joel looks set to replace Enright as the clubs games record holder.

Wasn't there speculation during this past season that Taylor may have been a shock retirement at the end of 2017 - let alone retiring at the end of his contact next season; great to see the passion and desire is still there because he wouldn't have signed on otherwise. Now to keep him in defence for bulk of the time

Quality moves here.

Getting it done early takes the market place out of the equation - im sure they could get more elsewhere on the free market.
No distraction specifically with HT this year - and he'd be a bigger name FA if not signed.
Will be good insurance for Gardiner to keep getting games and cut his teeth - and when he needs to go back to VFL for whatever reason - he can and HT is still around.
Gives the club clarity in SC and TPP management well before deadlines. Good business for all - and players have security.

Oh.. and we dont have to read the "HT will go home just like Mitch Duncan is going to" BS all year long.

Joel needs 83 games to pass him. Is it realistic to think with 88 games plus a few finals here and there hat he can do it considering the type of player he is? He carried the team for so long that the end seemed quite near this year and he got injured too.

Have this feeling he may do the noble thing and tie Enright rather than surpass him.

Who said? He certainly didn’t, nor did the club.

So many like to make assumptions and guesses and pass them off as fact though.
Loser scuttlebutt that he'd go back to WA play out the last few years of his contract. Media of course.

Should have waited on Taylor might be shot after this year
and he might not be... and even if he slows down some more... thats ok as the need for him to play every game diminishes with the rise of Gardner....

At least that's how its supposed to go...

I thought Mitch was going to the Gold Coast?

Many folks here where saying that this was going to be his last year just assuming that he would hang them up at the end of the year.

That was my first reaction .. but I wonder if its more than just an extra year ... by getting an extra year has it allowed then to spread this years a bit more into next year. Taylor was one of our most expensive.
Id also hope that he would be happy with grooming another young guy like Gardner , and then next year if he starts to fall away and is under pressure a deal can be worked out.

Harry is our single most important player now, imho.

Great news.
Wasn't Harry meant to retire at the end of 2018?

Always been bemused by the calls for/predictions of his impending retirement. He is certainly past his best, but he is still a hell of a player and looks to have plenty left in the tank. He almost looks in better knick these days than he ever has, physically speaking, too.
