Would he be rated in the top 5 of centre-men in the comp?

he is a mid range midfielder who looks great because of the quality around him. he's not nearly as damaging as Ablett or Bartell even when they're getting a tag.

If you are talking about actual centremen in the traditional sense (ie. not followers) he has a case for best in the league, not top 5. He just patrols the between the 50's like a true centremen, doesn't go too deep either end like our followers (Ablett, Bartel etc).
Each club only has one first pick centreman, Corey must be top 5 out of 16.
One of the most prevalent myths perpetuated on BigFooty is that certain players only appear talented because they are surrounded by more talent. Whilst this is true for SOME players, it is not true for Corey.
You are right about one thing - Corey is not as damaging as Bartel or Ablett. However, he was our best midfielder up until 2006. He has only become 3rd cab off the rank since Bartel and Ablett improved their respective games out of sight in 2007. For many years prior to this however, he was often the best player in a poor team performance. He has improved very steadily each year, and now that he is in his prime well and truly, he is a quality centreman in his own right, who's reputation should not be dimished by the company he plays with.
Yeah I would agree with that. A favourite of mine however. If you are talking about actual centremen in the traditional sense (ie. not followers) he has a case for best in the league, not top 5. P.S. If you are talking on ballers, probably not top 5 but still very valuable.
He would go close you would think. Leads the comp in possesions, and gets alot of clearances. He definately gets over looked because of Ablett & Bartel.

For the same reasons he doesnt get attention on field becuase ablett and bartel get all the taggers, is probably why he is not seen in the top 5 in the comp. Very underated and flys under the radar and to the peril of most clubs really.
Exactly why Kerr is struggling now, and was never as good as people made him out to be.Same with Kerr?
hes underated. hes been consistent for many years now even in geelongs dark times. when bartel and co werent firing he still was.

Couldn've put it better myself.Who said Geelong supporters were stupid? These guys know the score.
Simon Black won a Brownlow with Akermanis, Voss and Lappin around him. Did his skills disappear when those guys weren't all around? Did he suddenly stop winning the ball? No.
Sam Mitchell wins a heap of the footy. He's been doing that for a couple of years. 2-3 years ago Hawthorn were rubbish, Hodge was a half back flanker, Sewell was a dud, Young was probably still at school etc. yet Mitchell won just as much footy as he does now.
Matt Priddis walked into a midfield with Kerr & Judd, and Cousins to come back. He led the club in kicks, disposals and tackles for the season. Cousins and Judd are gone, and what do you know he still led the club in kicks, disposals and tackles after the first 3 rounds (he is now injured and has been passed in total kicks & disposals).
Corey fits into the same category as those above.
