MRP / Trib. Joel Selwood....again

Here is actually what needs to happen: Get rid of Michael Christian and all the muppets on the tribunal, and replace them with non-footballing people.

Enough with this business about needing people who "understand what it means to play AFL" to be in charge of the disciplinary committee. Time after time they've failed, and continue to fail. There's no consistency, no logic, nothing. Ex-AFL players will always be more inclined to back their fellow players in, especially protected species like Selwood, and will always believe bs narratives like "Selwood is a champion player, and this is clearly a one off".

Disciplinary decisions need to be judged by non-footballing people without any pre-conceived biases. This should've been enforced after the Bachar Houli farce a few years back, but the AFL is too stupid to put basic pieces together.

Replace them with parents of kids who play.

It was far from careless .... he lined him up ..... everyone can see that

If Taylor stays down for 10 secs Selwood gets weeks

Anyway having Selwood in the team is probably a worse outcome for Geelong ....... he is well past it
maybe a karma bus will come for Selwood

There was nothing in it and the player got up instantly. Contact was made, but clearly low impact. Can never really understand the Selwood hate by opposition supporters? Must be envy? Greene on the other hand put a bloke out of the game and in hospital, it changed the game. He was lucky to get just get 2 weeks.
yeah but what about the 'potential to cause injury' the afl pull out whenever its a player they dont like? surely lining up a shoulder bump to a guys head has a potential to cause injury even if it didnt.

Yep I'd love to hear the explanation on what constitutes "intentional" vs "careless" in this case. What a joke, if the AFL had any balls they would appeal the decision. Protect the head? How can you argue that you are protecting the head when players get off just because they were lucky enough not to have caused an injury? What sort of deterrent is that? AFL opening themselves up to future liabilities by failing to take it seriously.

The AFL is jerking the public off. Always have done in the commission era.

So you were disappointed that Dangerfield knocked Vlastuin out in the GF last year doing the exact same thing and had no case to answer?
I agreed with that decision which makes the Greene call so bad.

Thought both incidents -Selwood, Greene were worth about a week, but didn’t feel strongly about either.
Am surprised that so many of you guys let pretty inconsequential incidents ruin your day though.

People like to believe it’s a level playing field. When stuff like this repeatedly happens you lose faith in the system. You want to walk away but you know you can’t so you just get angrier.
Happy to be lol’d at

Can’t work like that. Low impact shouldn’t matter. Look at the action and look at the potential outcome. If the AFL is serious about head protection they’ll iron out these incidents and scrap the ridiculous grading system. Whether he was hurt or not doesn’t matter. The potential is there which should be enough in 2021 to stop this happening.

The most sensible thing to come from David King. On the Sam Mayes bump.

Youd probably have a different opinion if Selwood got 2 weeks and Greene got a fine.
Selwood’s was always a week tops. Two would have been excessive but he could use the rest anyway. Could have coped with a fine for Greene actually. Don’t mind if he gets off on appeal.
Regardless-It’s a game of footy - am not losing sleep over such minor incidents. No bad physical outcomes from either incident. Happy to move on.

Except one player got a massively bigger penalty than other players this year, and one got a softer penalty than other players this year.

The issue is the inconsistency. Surely that is a fair topic of discussion on a football forum?

Maybe, and of course consistency would be great, but it’s a tricky game to adjudicate. I thought they got most decisions right this year, so am ok.
And even if they get a few wrong, it’s doesn’t warrant the hysteria and vitriol that emerges. Nor is it evidence of corruption, bias or boys club or whatever the other nutty theories are that abound in response to a decision a few don’t like. A few of chips on a few shoulders on BF.

its the inconsistent s**t that the MRO dishes up. If both got the same there would be much less upset.
we can't attend the footy to vent our spleen
so the anger redoubles

Don't act all condescending towards people for caring about something more than you do. It's dick behaviour.

Everyone cares about stuff differently.
