Joel Selwood's goal kicking

This part of his game probably prevents him being in the absolute elite.
But compare Varcoe to Selwood.
Varcoe is the icing but there is no need for icing without the cake.

The setshot Joel misses are the one that are the ones he should do more with. The will come a day where he can no longer go like he does now and without the footskills we may find he doesn't have the longevity of a Bartel. Till that day , just enjoy the work this man does

The entire teams goal kicking is a bit ordinary at the moment. Pods, SJ, Mooney, Hawkins and Selwood have been really average.

In the premiership years, we used to see players with 60 goals and 20 or 30 points. Now our forwards have more points than goals. Very ord.

Pods' goal kicking is a real worry. It's going to hurt us one day...big time.

He needs to get his goal kicking boots on fast...maybe the GC will be the turning point. They are going to find his marking power a real handful.

I just hope he can convert.

I think it is great. It looks like Joel would rather set up a forward to kick the goal (isn't that what they are there for?) Then have a shot from outside 50 that might not make the distance or could go through for a behind. If you where to play it safe and put your team first, you would kick it to a forward in a better position, rather than worrying about glorifying yourself.
