I think after Thommos fair effort last week, we do not want shades of what happened against Collingwood to happen again. I don't think Dawson has the weight to play on Thompson. So my next bet is to see Joel Smith get the job of fullback. I remember watching one training session 2-3 years ago with both playing on each other. Smith totally humiliated Thompson either out marking or getting the punch every time. In all fairness to Thommo, maybe he was depressed at the time. But I think it would be a great matchup for Hawthorn if this went ahead.

Maybe try Dawson in the first quarter to see how it goes, and if all else fails then put Smith on him. I expect the same to happen at the other end. I cannot see Mr Johno "hack" Hay to line up on Willo.

Bring Buddy into the fwd line - Croady and Roughy to take Thommo and Rocca.
Way too defensive.

Our defence has been suspect all year yet we've been winning. Why? Because of a strong midfield and stable forward line. Croady is way too important up forward right now.

Give Thompson to either Smith or Dawson and make sure Jacobs gets back in the hole.

Smith has done the job consistently this year. I wouldn't mind him playing on Thompson.

Really depends on what we do up forward etc. Dawson might get first crack though, and Smith and Jaccobs will probably try and zone off and by the third man up in the contest to help out Roughead and Dawson IMO. Has been working so far this year.

Dawson has played on Kingsley and McPharlin so far, so he might get the in form Thompson.

Our defense has been suspect all year yet we have won 4 and lost 1 out of 5 and our defense is rate 3 to date in the leauge. I say leave the winning formula alone at least for a quater, then if were being killed change the formula.......

Id like to see dawson on thompson and tell the atheltic kid to run thompson around as much as he can and create drive for the hawks of the back line, thomo should tire and take himself of the ground lol

we need to tag young well's he is the heart beat of the roos these days, maybe clarkey to get the job on him!

I hope hay does play on williams, their is no way hay can match william on the lead. so willo make hay run and by half time he will be joining thomo on the bench :p

Worst case senerio Croad on rocca, roughead on rocca....

Go Hawkers 5/6 next up the lion.... what a start e could have if you stay foucused on the game and on the ball

Smith would be a good match up for thomo as he's not a huge user of his 'size', so on the lead is where smith needs to be able to beat him and i think he should have him covered.
However i think Dawson will get first crack and i was super impressed with his ability to get fist to ball last week, so hopefully the young guy continues in that way and gives a good account of himself.

Campbell on Rocca and Roughy on Thompson. Leave Croady in the forward line or we end up with no targets past the centre.

Perceptive. Perhaps AC should give you a call this week. He needs all the help he can get.

Unfortunately you didn't allow for Laidley's tactic of dropping a player in front to stop Willo's leads and AC's refusal to react.

Otherwise good forsight Alex_U
