joey anderson's mark

I know mark of the year usually goes to some bloke who climbs up and stands upright on someone elses shoulders...........but FFS he should at least win that ARMY courage thingy.

For a bloke who has played 10 games to run back and take the clutch mark..........when JB would have grabbed it and probably won the game for them after the siren.

LEGEND!!

Lets hope he takes this and kicks on with it. Soundslike he had a good game.

i thought he did some great things last night. That mark was awesome and sealed the game for us. This type of thing can make a player. He has only played the 8 games and hasnt really had a consistent run at it yet. He will be a player for us when he is given his chance to cement a spot.

He backed back in front of Brown at another stage as well and spoiled the ball - 3rd quarter i think when they were in full flight.

Didnt think much of grigg at the start of the year but i absolutley love him now. Anderson's break out year next year??

He did win a senior B&F for Buffs up north as a 17 year old.

The guy can play.

Around the time we drafted him I remember reading quite an extensive review about him written by someone from up in Darwin who followed the footy up there. He played in the same league as Aaron Davey did and the report said something to the effect that Ando is as flashy and brilliant as Davey but a more complete footballer and was more developed in all areas of his game at a younger age :thumbsu:

All game I was hoping that he could show enough to earn himself another contract, I've been a fan of his since he tagged a red hot Eagleton out of the Doggies game last year until he went down with the hammy.

When he took that mark, the contract was in the bag.

Let's hope this game propels him well down the path of realising his vast potential :thumbsu:

Joey backing into the path of Jono Brown was the best individual moment of the game IMO.

To put it simply, you just cannot teach that sort of courage. Some people have it, some people don't. He's clearly got it. He backed into the pack knowing full well that he could have easily been belted over the fence by the oncoming man-mountain Jono Brown, and he didn't think twice about going through with it.

Efforts like that can make the difference in close games between a heartbreaking loss, and a win. No doubt Ratts would have gone up to him at the end of the game and congratulated him on a great individual effort. As a fearless competitor himself, no doubt Ratts would have loved it. Hopefully that inspires a few of the younger boys and shows them just what is expected from them in each and every game - in fact, each and every contest.

Well done Joey. Capped off a solid game for a kid with a courageous act that he'll remember for a while. :thumbsu:

things like that can really develop and increase an inner belief for the kid, leading into the future.. hopefully he doesnt have a preseason problems this time around as he did last season

Joe was nothing like Aaron Davey when he played in Darwin. He played mainly as a defensive player on the HBF and in the Grand Final played well shutting down Heath Culpitt.

Joe in my opinion always had problems with his skills under pressure and his decision making at times and from what I have seen in his AFL career still has these concerns.

its things like that which will ensure joey makes it in the big league.
great work young fella! had a decent game aswell, probably his best

in courageness its = with barrys

Correct. Actually in terms of courage I'd have it greater than Barry's.

Leo flew from the side of the pack. Senational mark at the perfect time.

Joe put himself in the path of the one forward that could probably kill you just by running over you........and he came off not only with the game saving mark.....but got up better off physically as well.

Awesome effort, and not a bad game from him all round.

Lets hope this launches his pre-season.:thumbsu:

Can you tell me who hit Fev in the pocket with a 45 metre pass with 70 seconds left in the game? ;)

Anderson then ran the length of the ground to get back in front of Brown to take that gutsy mark and was crunched after the Lions took the ball down the ground. :thumbsu:

That type of stuff from a young and inexperienced player will really get you good marks from the coach. Easily the best thing he's done in his career you would think, and I don't mind what I've seen from him. Great stuff champ.:thumbsu:
Garry Lyon said on FC that Anderson's effort was a free to Brown.

That's a free kick?
On Footy Classified last night I believe. Wasn't it something to do with Thronton interfering with Brown?

Lets just settle down, it was a good effort to get there, but things like that happen every week.

Was happy he got another game. Seems he, Browne and Armfield will be vying for the same spot in the team next year. Healthy competitiveness is a good sign for the club.

This is the turning point for Joey, well done mate. I think he is going to be a very good player for us.

Anderson has the potential to replace Carrazzo in the team with what he brings to the table as a 188 cm defender and run with player with good speed. There isn't much between them in terms of skill, but I think Joey is a slightly better kick on the run and bringsmore versatility to the side than Carrazzo.

*runs*

;)

We could push Ando over onto a Campbell Brown or a medium marking forward if needed because he's better at spoiling when he's 188 cms tall.

Anderson's spoil on Brown was identical to one in the VFL the previous week where he jumped over the back of a taller opponent and absolutely smashed it forward thirty metres. :thumbsu:

We may have dropped Browne out because Ando has more legspeed and was a better match for one of Brisbane's runners.

Bower or Thornton to Brown.........Ando would get rag dolled.

Carrots is listed at 187 and Joey at 188 but neither are close.
Gibbs is a genuine 189.......try to catch a glimpse of him standing next to either of those 2......he is so much taller its not funny
