Im sure it was the first time a player ever did what the coach told him to do even when he didnt want to do it...

Exactly this.

He's a really good bloke and you can't hold it against him for taking the contract. As well as country football pays former AFL players, especially one as good as Simpkin, it doesn't come close to what he'll earn playing for Essendon.... even after tax.

IF their is even the tiniest bit of truth to this than Mr dead leg is a coward for not pulling the coach up and saying NO.

I could just imagine Clarkson telling Hodge to play an injury up by blaming another player, I wonder how far Clarkson would get?

Every interview he gave Lyon was blaming Mitchell for the injury. When Fyfe was on Game Day they asked him about Lyon saying it was Mitchell who caused the injury. That is when he looked uncomfortable in his response.

So yes, it was Lyon.

Can you name any players who have publicly outed their coach as a liar?

Here here.....my sentiments exactly.

It is what it is unless someone is telling porkies or not clearing up any confusion. Say what you mean and mean what you say or else zip it.

Sammy has been the soft/easy target on this one and I think Freo were pi*sweak in not putting their hand up for playing someone who wasn't fit.

And as for people defending Fyfe and Freo on this issue.....surely you are having a lend?

Neither Alistair Clarkson or the HFC would indulge in such crap conduct.
That is unless I don't know the quality of my footy club and its people very well.

Yeah, actually has a chance to settle and shine. Hope other clubs are watching to see that he will be a reliable depth player in 2017 as well.

I actually always thought he'd be the type of player the Syds might 're'-target. Engine, low skill, competitive, can tag, can snag a goal & on the outer (cheap!) at a premiership rival. Would surely be an upgrade on Benny McGlynn, except he's probably too tall and wouldn't draw Benny's frees.
