I recall seeing an interview with Grover last year where he spoke about a change to his training programme to work on his pace again. With Taz down back and McPharlin covering the other gorilla he was no longer expected to be the 2nd tall in the backline. He had bulked up to fill that roleover a few years but no longer needed to and was shedding a few kilos and doing a lot of work on his speed.
The ability of Faulks to step straight into the FB role is crucial imo.
If he can cover Tarrants role efficiently it will leave Grover as the third tall and gives us the luxury of using Silvagni as our swingman.
If Faulks doesn't shape up we are resigned to having Grover versus gorilla number two and this has never worked out too well in the past. Plus we lose that vital flexibilty that todays game requires.
Thankfully, everyone of my mates in Victoria really rate Faulks very highly. As do a lot of people on here who have seen him in the flesh it seems. So evrything augers well at this stage.
Of course the JA possibility gives us another string to our bow if it comes off.
How many weeks before the season starts??

...just can't believe that kid got delisted...& I know he looks like being rookie listed, but you never know...
