This is gonna be so interesting. In the preseason draft, goldcoast, West coast and bris (salay cap issues) might want him but stupid Richmond has committed to houli when they need a key pos player. That leaves Essendon in the box seat after them. I l know you may say Ess has already got lots of talls but you can never have too many kpp that can play forward and back. Good backup in case Negal, gumby or Williams flop again.

You probably can if this means you will end up with a slow side, with few quality midfielders.

More a LeCras type, with very little below the knees - Not that LeCras is something to behold once the ball hits the deck, but nevertheless.
Nah, he's a genuine KP player. He can't play as a flanker, or out of a forward pocket or anything.

From the goalsquare is his best position.

Thanks for making your decision now JA woulda been handy a few weeks ago that you wanted more opurtunites elsewhere rather then trying to earn your spot back in our 22. Hope he gets picked up by carlton so we can really give it to him when we flog em n unveil our premiership flag in round 3

Maybe, just maybe Collingwood were being w***ers and we said f.....ya we'll take him in the PSD for shit all.

I doubt he'll still be available when Freo get a pick. At the end of the day we did a fair trade for Tarrant.

There was no talk at all of Anthony's asking for a trade in around in trade week - which was surprising in itself... and certainly no mention of Collingwood refusing. I suspect he's done a deal with a club with an early PSD pick.

Well you kinda did offer him to us if what I heard was correct. I heard that Collingwood offered us him for Tarrant and pick 20.

If the rumours i have heard are true then it looks like we are his preferred destination - unless someone before us can give him 3 years.

there's a couple of tough posts about jack and some good defence put up too...the guy had a neck injury in 2007 before he even started his senior career...i think he missed the whole year. And some here are questioning his courage? And this idea that he is up himself...well i dont hear anyone saying that they would knock back a Michael Voss if someone like him was in the draft..... and he would have to be the biggest inflated ego case in the league....
Jack is still a kid and sure he falls over after he contests the ball and his second efforts arent great...but he learnt to play ff pretty good and he did a pretty good job at full back at vfl level this year..good luck jack!!! if you go to freo, remember to come back home in 3 years

He'll end up at GC, but I wouldn't mind him at Windy Hill if we got him in the PSD. He's an obvious upgrade on Jay Neagle, and would be good for at least a couple of years while some of the other tall forwards develop.

True but Richmond would have a bit of cap space surely.

Not a helluva lot of room between 92.5% and 100%, i think that equates to about $500k or so which is equivalent to two average paid players.

I'd laugh if Richmond can't take Houli in the ND and are forced to honor their agreement in the PSD. Losing Houli for Anthony would be a massive, massive win.

Gold Coast can list any player once they are delisted from original club prior to the national draft.

Check the Gold Coast list concession rules.

There is a difference between being delisted and refusing a contract offer.

If everyone out of contract could just go to the GC in the PSD, the whole compensation system etc is pointless.

Are Pies fans concerned just a little, that depth players in Anthony and Fraser are now gone, and guys like Lockyer and Medhurst recently retiring...

Are there enough experienced players still lurking around in case the kids aren't quite up to it and pushing for senior selection?

Collingwood supporters should be concerned. In 2007 Geelong won the VFL and AFL premierships and had embarrassing depth. Over the next 3 years the club lost a stack of players to other teams - King, Davenport, Prismall, Nathan Ablett, Scott Thompson, Tim Callan, Brodie Moles, Shane Mumford, Playfair... There were probably more. In most cases, fringe players sought an opportunity elsewhere, or Geelong had to offload them. N. Ablett was an exception.

Didn't realise Moles was a Cat. I think you're right and Collingwood should be concerned. Ceglar isn't going to produce the depth Fraser provided in his first season for instance. How many teams had the depth to have a 50 goal a season FF in the ressies? It may not happen next year, but losing such depth will see them come back to the pack, just like it happened to the Cats.

Of course it will happen. That's the AFL-designed mechanism.

Everyone gets a turn at the top - the measure of greatness is how much you can achieve whilst you're there.

Mumford is the only one that Geelong would be concerned about. The Pies with their young list and good depth are in a great position to improve our future draft position through prudent trading. Unfortunately the scenario with Anthony (I don't care that he's gone as I don't rate him) suggests that we may not take advantage of the potential for trades.

You're right, but the loss of depth could bite you as early as next season. Although it could be a fairly soft year next year, so perhaps it won't matter. Leon Davis would have got a game for every other side last season, omitting him is something Collingwood probably won't have the luxury of any longer. I think Anthony may not be a big loss to Collingwood, but could be a major plus for someone who leaves him at FF for a season.

Anthony and Fraser have hardly set the world on fire in a few games they've played last season but you're right, Jack will be of value to teams that are light on forward line options.
Can't agree with you on Davis though, he will be fighting Dick and Rounds for a spot next year.
