I would love for us to recruit Petrenko from the Crows but there is no way it is going to happen. He's a jet, would be beautiful watching him run out of the half-back line next year and start rotating through the middle. Love how competitive he is.

IF anything i dont think tapscott looks like a natural defender, would much rather have him prowling around the 50m line setting sail for the 8th tier behind the goals

Yeah his kicking would definitely be an asset but not sure if he is quick and a crumber in the vein of Milne, Rioli, Garland et al. Anyway, hopefully he is. It will be interesting to see who we play as our running backs when we have Grimes, Bennell, Strauss, Blease, Nicholson all competing for a couple of spots.

Would be nice to see Bennell and Blease just running through the middle slicing the press up next year.

But yeah, would the power want the fixed mid round pick and our 1st rounder for butcher? Spose they dont have a choice if he wants out..

Scully went 1 we wont get that if he leaves, both Coniglio and Patton are far superior to Butcher, then Wingard would be close but he would probably go 3

If he wants to leave then Port get the best offer, they get nothing from him going in the ND and he would end up in QLD if he did, so that wont happen

Every Vic club will be interested, if he says club X or i go in the draft they wont get a great deal for him but if he allows port to trade him to the highest bidder 2 mid range first rounders wont get the job done IMO, as for your Coniglio/Patton comment i reckon he would hold more value than them, already had 2 years of development and has shown he can play at this level (Not that i know a lot about those 2 boys)

Butcher is expected to re-sign with the South Australian club, but forces from Victoria are attempting to change his mind.

The Blues, North Melbourne, Melbourne and Richmond have indicated interest in the 20 year old.

Even if both stay we still have a tremendous amount of space in the cap, although getting Butcher is a pipe dream.

Things are escalating- and we must do absolutely everything in our power to get Butcher.

THE manager of Port Adelaide youngster John Butcher says the in-demand forward deserves the chance to come home.

Paul Connors said this morning Butcher was weighing up whether to stay at Port Adelaide, with a host of Victorian believed to be keen on securing the Gippsland 20-year-old.

"John Butcher is a big boy and he'll tell me what he wants to do,'' Connors told SEN radio.

"Port fans, you'd love him to stay, but if the coaching landscape has changed then I think the playing landscape has changed and he's allowed to have a choice if he wants to come home.

"I don't think anyone knew about John Butcher four weeks ago, but he's certainly on the tip of everyone's tongue.''

Connors will sit down with Butcher in Adelaide tonight for a preliminary discussion on where he wants to play in 2012.

"I'm going over to have dinner with him, the captain Dom Cassisi and a couple of other good young players I manage over there, Ben Jacobs, Aaron Young and Andrew Moore.

"But I think what we've said is he'll come home, his dad's involved with junior football at Gipplsand Power and we'll have a discussion with his family and find out what he wants to do.

Is it just me or is Paul Connors all but admitting Butcher wants to come home? Throw the everything at him Melbourne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
