Gibbs wont be traded...not in a heart beat...

But Carlton will certainly be keeping an eye on his situation!

Out of contract...has put off negotiations until the end of the year (we generally know where that leads) and a Victorian...

Gaurenteed the Blues will throw some $ in his general direction.

With Trengove also looking to leave, you may find a trade involving Hampson a more likely scenario

They were going around before he debuted, doubt he'll be at Port next year.

Why? Cos in your little Victorian bubble you think all the players want to leave Port?

Butcher and Trengove will both sign on at Port. Of this I have no doubt.

But for the fun of this hypothetical thread... if Carlton wanted Butcher and Butcher actually said "Look, I wanna go back to Melbourne" I would definitely go a trade involving Gibbs.

Because your club's a rabble, why wouldn't any player want to go home and play infront of massive crowds and be with family and friends, Ports future isn't looking great ATM IMO.

That's funny, Jackson came out after the game saying he was hoping to put pen to paper any day now...

Just like Boak and Gray last year?

The only player we lost latelyt is useless, Krakouer.

Butcher isnt gonna sign when he hasn't played a game, he knew he was gonna get some games, so he wants to sign then after, clearly not stupid.

He ain't going anywhere, he loves the place.

Has a bit of Brendan Fevola about him.. Minus the obvious problems assumingly.

Gibbs for Butcher and a 2nd round pick.

Port could use a bloke that can actually use the ball well and find a bit of space as they always seem to be putting their own players under pressure through handballing and rarely hit targets.

Butcher would be a perfect fit for our forward line, splits the packs, get's the ball to ground, and looks to have a Fevola-esque set shot going by yesterdays performance.

What do Port fans think?
I reckon this sounds about right Gibbs is a top line player who has proved himself at AFL. While Butcher did play well yesterday there was a fair height difference and i didn't see the hawks game so i can't comment on who he played on.

But long story short if and its a big if butcher does go this would be a fair trade IMO

Has there been any talk of GWS

Has there been any talk of GWS

Definitely not for him.

The only players linked to GWS were Carlisle, Pearce, Motlop.

Frankly they can have Carlisle, he's gone backwards at a million miles an hour this year.

You do realised, that of all the players than come out of contract each year - the majority only sign at the end of the year. Especially those who's value is either on the incline or decline.

Carlisle Mrs apparently lives in sydney, so most expect that he is leaving.

If he's leaving he'd probably want to head home but would love for Freo to sound him out. Looking like we'll have pick 14 or 16, so that plus a player to port or to GWS for an upgrade on the pick then ontrade upgraded pick to port?

Was there much talk about Phil Davis? Would seem to fall under the same stratergy.

not really the case..

Clubs are very keen to tie up their stars and budding talent early in the season...especially more so in the past 2 seasons with expansion.

I would not want to be in Ports position at the moment..

The club is not going great on or off field and their young talent will have offers coming from everywhere...especially those that are originally from Melbourne.

Yet the last Victorian of any note we lost is Nick Stevens, go figure...

Your living in a dream world.

Boak and Gray last year were glad to sign on.

This won't end too well for you.

Why's that? I wasn't the first person in this thread to bring up Gibbs?

Edit: Also, to everyone in any of these Port threads who are seemingly experts on the fact that all our players want to leave (who predominantly seem to be from Melbourne and love lapping up all the Melbourne media drivel as if its gospel), who is willing to put their money where their mouth is? Who will come out and actually ADMIT THEY WERE COMPLETELY, 100% WRONG when all these players sign in the offseason?

Port Adelaide are NOT a feeder club.

Bryce Gibbs is fantasy land. Will never happen.

Sure, Port aren't a feeder club but this off season stands as the most important in the clubs history.

Do you honestly believe Boak and Grey would re sign again if their contract wound up this season...after what has taken place this season, and the current standing of the club??

I strongly doubt it...

Port are in a world of hurt...and it will take a good 10 years to rebuild...if they ever do!

Why's that? because you think Gibbs is a superstar or because you think he wont want to head home?, fact is Gibbs is a massive underachiever, possibly the worst no1 pick in recent memory, as i said earlier, he would be borderline top 20 if that draft was redone again.

Butcher was a KP top 10 pick who looks like being able to hold down a key post, personelly i wouldn't swap Butcher to 2 Gibbs.

Nah - that was how long it took Carlton.

Start with two first rounders, one of them in the top ten

And port will throw in their second rounder

Would want more thn just Gibbs

Mate, you are normally a pretty good poster but this borderline on rubbish.

Gibbs alone would fetch more than Butcher.

Let's get serious people.

2 first rounders? You'd think Port have Buddy Franklin on their hands.
