Leap frog who????

Swan, Pendlebury, Thomas, Didak, Shaw, Sidebottom, Beams, Toovey, Blair, Ball, Wellingham, Davis, Krakouer, Johnson, Buckley, Dick

Thats 16 smaller players that I think are currently ahead of him.

There are young players that will go past him, McCarthy will only get games if injuries occur

the way i see it there are 10 spots for midfielders in our team - the 5 who start in the centre line, at least 2 spots on the bench and 3 forwards who will be part of the centre rotation. if he can stay fit, i expect that within the next 3 years he will be on par or ahead of all bar swan, pendlebury, thomas and didak. i'm not including shaw because i hope that he always remains a defender and not a regular part of the midfield rotation. i honestly think that he will become as good as sidebottom, wellingham and beams.

obviously we disagree. only time will tell.

McCarthy is 21. He'll turn 22 in November.

He'll go past Davis & Johnson if he can remain fit and I'd add Blair to that. I have him ahead of Buckley & Sinclair who have similar attributes.

I haven't seen enough of Josh Thomas to decide.

I'm quite bullish, that a good run with injuries and we'll see him in our best 22. I'd have him behind Dick on potential.

The guy is 21 years old, how many 'younger' players are going to leap frog him? Surely you don't mean the 23 year old Simon Buckley? Or do you mean Fasolo or Bolton? I think J-Mac has shown more than both, and should be given the opportunities affording to the likes of Rusling.

At least Dick has already teared games apart including a 5 goal haul, Blair has already had a 28 possesion game, Toovey has more talent in his left nut then J-Mac. McCarthy has played AFL games and has done nothing compared to those 3 he is well behind them on talent.

I'm not going to get drawn on his talent levels because I personally think he shows something but the fact his highest possession tally of any game he's played in the seniors is 14 is a concern. He's good when he gets it but he just doesn't get it enough for mine when he's in the seniors.

I rate Buckley ahead of him at the moment but honestly only by a whisker so you could toss a coin either way they are both nothing more then fringe players, but I am talking about the likes of Fasalo, Seedsman, Thomas those types who are still going to have time. Im not saying they all will as some of them will fail and be delisted but surely at least a couple will rise to the challange of AFL.

Blair is younger then J-Mac and has already done more and looks to have gone to another level this preseason except for his grand final performance that is

I think J-Mac has skill and is a good ball user. But I define talent as overall skill, footy nous and abilty to win the ball. On his side is still young enough to be kept around at least in 2012 but if he can't break in by next year I would like to see him gone.

He did some nice things but I don't have a lot of confidence in him for some reason. Depth player that can do a role, he could possibly aspire to be the player Lockyer was but I doubt it

Yeah he didn't get a lot of it in the NAB final, but he usually did nice things when he did get it.

Noticed from Volt's highlights, he was involved in several build ups and assists to goals.

He's up agianst a lot of high cless players for a spot in best 22, but he's excellent depth and would be a very good sub option, esp if we lose one or two with injury.

Think I'm more of a fan than most, hope he makes it, but he could end up like Prismall with the Cats.

if we have an injury free run, i suspect that we'll have onr or twi disgruntled players who seek a trade or gws if uncontracted.

He'll get a chance this year, just like he did last year, it's a certainty, it's up to him what he makes of it. I think he has the potential to make it, but he really needs to show something when he gets the call up. Last year he was just average in the 2(?) games he played and so got dropped, I dunno if he'll be given the grace of another year to prove himself so now is the time to stand up.

I thought he played OK in the final. When he got the ball he generally used it well, he just wasn't as involved with so many senior players around, but he wasn't bad at all and didn't look out of place. There's also no reason he can't make the side, I'd put him ahead of the pack of the running players who didn't get a game in the seniors last year.

As for someone saying he's never had much of the ball when he's played, I think it'd be more concerning if he ever had a run of games and didn't do a lot. So far he's only played 1 or 2 games at a time and usually after working his way back from injury. I think if something is going to stop him it'll be his own body.

He might end up as trade bait too but I think he offers something to the team and the only reason he'd be traded would be if he didn't want to stay.
