Thats true, but you did pick up Thompson who was a first rounder for that late pick.
I can't remember how the deal went, but you still got thommo cheaply.
Either way it sucks when a player just walks out....

Melbourne supporters at the time thought they were ahead in the trade of Maloney for Thompson. At the time Thompson was injury-prone & Maloney wasn't. A 1st round pick was reasonable. A 3rd round pick or Jamar for Meesen isn't. IMO, a 2nd rounder or he goes into the PSD.

No, most of us definitely didn't think we were ahead but in the end we weren't ripped off too badly.
But from what I've heard about Meesen (and I haven't seen him play besides his brief stint in the seniors this year) pick 21 would be too much to give up for a player that is still a pretty big risk (I've seen him described as a hack, spud etc. and hasn't been given too many compliments). I would rather not get him than give up pick 21 where we could hopefully still pick up a really good player in the draft.

In getting pick 12 from Adelaide we got a fair deal, not what he was worth considering he had already shown he was going to be a gun midfielder, but a fair deal considering he was leaving the club anyway. Here Meesen is leaving Adelaide, and we have alledgedly offered a fair deal in pick 37, if it wasn't fair then other Victorian clubs would have or will offer more. If Adelaide don't accept then they can send him to the PSD.

if no one else want shim why not wait till the pre season draft............pointless wasting a pick on him if we can get him for free.........as for scott thompson, hes a mummys boy who missed his mummys breast feeding..........we didnt want to lose him he wanted to leave...

We don't know who may end up in the preseason draft yet, so we may be dudding ourselves if we commit to him, or don't do a deal before hand.
I think you'll find that we'll give up a 3rd round draft pick for Meeson, but it won't be no.37. As part of another trade, we'll exchange 3rd round picks, which means we'll give up even less for Meeson.
Carlton and Richmond will be targeting high profile uncontracted players in the PSD, hence Meeson will fall through to pick 3.

What the club wouldnt have let him go home if he really wanted to see a sick relative if it is like u said?? are we that sick and twisted that we would have told him to stay here all pre-season long and even beyond??? thats crap and you know it, he could have had as much time off as he wanted, we wanted him to stay and would have done all we could for him......some people just miss their mummy way too much
