I think it was traded for Brad Moran, a Kangaroo, who has done nothing.

Whilst the player the Kangaroos eventually picked hasn't played a game yet.

looks like all teams did well out of that trade. it probably took 5 hours of negotiating just to get the deal done for all clubs involved.

ps. who did north get with that pick?

just had a look it was scott thompson a name that haunts all melbourne supporters. glad we didnt pick him up because he would have been no good then we would trade him to some other club and he would go on to be a supestar and probably win a brownlowe.

Thomo showed great signs at melbourne, he was playing good footy in 2004 before breaking his foot mid season and never played for melbourne. He was always going to be a gun!

IMO it was worth the risk with Messen, as North Melbourne picked up a mature age player in scott thompson from geelong the other players i between pick and 37 and our next pick have not played much senior fotoy either. I ampretty sure if you look back at preivous posts the details are there.

Unless he turns things around, Meesen must be another example of why Vic clubs need to be wary of young players leaving interstate clubs early on.

With Watts and so far Meesen failing to excite after leaving Adealide for "opportunities" surely the clubs will start looking a little more closely at the reasons these guys go home. SA clubs don't pick players up for the same reason unless they are proven players.

I hope Messen doesn't end up a complete dud however.

But we did get him at pick 8 and lost him for pick 37 so it still hurts.

All in all, he still has age on his side.

However, he's been given every opportunity to show something and has yet to show even the smallest of signs that he has what it takes at the highest level.

I think its also a message to recruiters of the dangers of picking a player largely based on his athletic ability, rather than footballing nous, something to take note of with regards to who is expected to go No.1 this year.

I agree- especially with the way football is moving with the quick movements, smarter footballers are going to hurt you more than quick players because of the decision making that needs to be done.

What is he like in the courage and toughness departments?

From what I saw, not great - Drummond would be the man to ask however (i think he mentioned it in his post) Goes in when he has to but no Glen Archer.

still as mentioned has time - 1 year left on the contract so that must be a good thing.
