John Murphy on SEN

It seems Lions supporters need to put on their brown underpants because there is a real possibility they will miss out on a potential star. I'll think you'll find it's Blues and Hawks supporters that want Brisbane to miss out.

Well if I isn't Jacob the liar. I remember you, Murphy is signed sealed and delivered you said, well numerous media reports and his own father just today have said otherwise. Got any more brilliant insights or is the machinery in your pea brain trying to come up with another bald faced lie?

blah, blah, blah still not sick of your own voice then !!
school out is it little fella ? you must go and get something for your lionphobia
try a replay of the 2002 grand final !

This Hawthorn supporter thinks Murphy will head up to Brisbane. Good luck to them...just means we have to find the next best or better available in the coming few months.

What a ridiculous statement! You sir are an idiot, can you provide any evidence for your steaming pile of excrement of a post?

Let me change "most of them seem to be Collingwood supporters" to "quite a few of them seem to be Collingwood supporters". Otherwise I stand by my comments.

And I wouldn't be bagging people too much for lying or supposed bullsh*t statements.

Questions:
Who did Luke Power support growing up? Pieman1's answer
Did John Murphy play with North Melbourne? pieman1's answer

Serious question here, people keep saying this but does anyone actually believe that Murphy would make it to pick 7-8 in this years draft?

From all reports it doesnt look like it. Higher ranked players are reported to have had ordinary carnivals and young Murphy had a good one. Depends I guess on your teams needs but I would think the Blues and Hawks(if they finish 15-16) would look very seriously at him. Pies wouldnt be far away if they pass on him either ,I dont think.

It's funny. there's seems to be a certain percentage of people who seem to be hoping he's not coming to Brisbane. Most of these seem to be Collingwood supporters. Not saying that all Collingwood fans are hoping against hope he doesn't join the Lions, just that those saying he won't come seem to be dominated by Pies fans.

Now, i've got no idea if Marc will come up here or not. And I'm sure Marc will probably ask his fathers advice at some stage. But I'd imagine his advice will be what's best for Marc's football career. All I can say is we'd love to have him!

Not 'hoping he wont go to Brisbane' , more the observation that I dont think he will for the reasons I stated earler.

Apologies jimmy35, although I hadn't lumped you in to that group. I have spoken to a few pies supporters who actually said they didn't want Brisbane to get another "leg-up" or words to that effect.

...I am led to believe his Grandfather played for Hawthorn. Read it in last weekends Footy Record - could be wanting to play for us??

(one can only hope!)

Touche, the only thing I can say in my defence is to say to err is human. But 2 mistakes in 439 posts is still a pretty good strike rate. You must have alot of time on your hands to go through all of them.

it will come down to a money, and what his projected draft position is.

Brisbane, can offer him a healthy contract up front. If he wants to decline, he'll need a fair view of where he is likely to go.

Unless he is a top 5 pick after the camp, I'd be surprised if he turned Brisbane down.

I wish I had that much time! :) I just remembered that post about Power as it was directly above an equally as incorrect statement from another Pies supporter which made me have a bit of a giggle. Just sort of stuck in the head.

Anyhow, I'm not looking to start a chatroom blue or some sort of Nazi crusade on bullsh*t statements, just warning that those in glass houses....

My point in this thread is this: No one really knows what Marc will do. Maybe not even Marc at this stage. He hasn't really, that I've heard, made a comment on it other than some non-descript vague comments at the end of the Vic-Metro-WA game. John Murphy has been more quoted but you can't really read much into what he's said either (although quite a few have tried). You may or may not be in game development as you claim, but I will say i've lost count of the number of people on BF who claim to be right up a clubs ar*e or good friends with one of the medical staff and so on and so on. So forgive me if i'm more than skeptical.

Not a snow flakes chance in hell. If he's available he will be long gone by the time pick 5 comes along and probably gone by the time 3 is called.

If the Hawks and Blues have PP is will be a choice of 'Who's on first'.

Ball and Wells went at 2 and Shannon Grant at 3. I think they are pretty good comparisons. So top-3 for sure.

Carlton will have 2 picks you'd think. With that in mind they have a lot more freedom to take him because they can use their other pick on a KP player.

The other dimension to this is that if the draft is weak for elite players there could be a lot of trading. Someone could trade into that position.

One scenario could be the Eagles and Carlton. The Eagles are deep in the key positions. They could package up some combination of pick 20, Gardiner, and one of their fringe kids (eg McConnell) for number 1. It would be a ballsy move but if Murphy nominates for the draft the Eagles could have the elite midfield for a decade with Murphy added to the mix.

In that scenario Carlton would still have pick 2 (or 3) and pick 20 for kids. McConnell and Gardiner would strengthen them straight away. The Eagles give up some good players but guys who will struggle for game time anyway.

Obviously unlikely to happen, but there are going to be 16 clubs talking to the Murphy's in the next few months.
