do youse actually think anyone would want johnstone? i know i wouoldnt
hes like 27, lazy witha poor work ethic wat a great additio to any team

Hmm how about we exchange recruiting managers? I mean becuase Richmond have had such success with their top ten picks in recent years. "Lets see, we don't need Matthew Pavlich, we already have Richo, lets take Aaron Fiora. Now Lance Franklin, question marks over him, lets take Richard Tambling at 4. Now we have the dream time match this year, better take Jarryd Oakley-Nicholls with our number 8."

What number was Ottens? Number 2? He's doing well for you blokes now isn't he.

Come back and talk to us when you make the 8.

Id trade pick 13 for TJ every day of the week and I wouldnt be surprised if we chased him hard

From the perspective of an outsider, I'd be quite shocked if you guys traded Johnstone. Sure, he might be a little lazy, but I'd struggle to name more than a handful of players in the comp who are better kicks. The previous poster mentioned a 2nd round pick being a decent exchange for him. I'd say that most opposition clubs would consider it a win if they managed to land him for just a 2nd rounder. I know I'd love that extra bit of class in the Richmond midfield.

Give us pick 2 for him then :D

I'd think that Johnstone would be worth about a Pick 8-14. He is all class, even if he is inconsistant, but in the right team, he could be the icing on the cake. The sort of player a Collingwood might look at, as they could probably use a genuine silky midfielder to compliment a lot of their hard workers in the guts.

If we were to get a Pick 10 for example (cbf figuring out which club that is), then surely West Coast would be interested in Picks 4 + 10 for Judd.

I'm well and truely sick of this devil talk.

We need TJ.......he is a vital component to teh future success of this football club...........plus we could trade i likes of bruce and green for the same value.

Lets end this thread and never speak of it again........shame on you TJ knockers....shame on you.

Shame on you for having such a ridiculous obssession. We're just discussing a player. What has TJ done, as a number 1 draft pick, in 10 years to warrant such love?

Why are Kangaroos supporters SO keen to give us Moran I wonder?
I wasn't aware they were. I'm certainly not. But if there was any reason behind it, it's probably because he has apparently told the club he's sick of the lack of opportunities and if a chance came elsewhere he'd look at it. He has to bide his time behind McIntosh and Hale.

I think a few clubs would jump on Moran. Hes a young gun.

I probably should have read the Melbourne board before making a thread on this!

but.... Just on 'Before the Bounce' Rodney Eade suggested a rumoured interest from Fremantle in Johnstone. Want anyone for him?

Unless he gets us Judd, I don't want to see the back of him. TJ would carve it up with Judd if we managed to have the two of them.

I am a Lion's supporter however i abosolutely love Travis Johnstone, his poise and skill are of first class. Someone mentioned Johnstone doesn't get the hardball? I have seen him gather many contested possessions in my time, his ability to stay on his feet in a contest and use the ball effectively is terrific. I am also very keen on grabbing him in dream team next year. He played on half back in round 22, does anyone think that will be his role next year?

A lot of supporters don't believe he gets the hard ball but they never go to watch the games either so I am not sure how they are able to deduct this fact.

It depends on what path your club is taking. Are you going to go through a heavy rebuild, and bottom out next year? Or are you going to have a serious dip at the finals? Personally, if I was the Melbourne coach, I would be going for a Hawthorn type rebuild. This would mean trading off a few players in order to assemble enough draft picks to gain young talent.

Travis Johnstone- Would be aiming for a first round pick. If not offered no deal, however, offered a Pick 8-14 would accept it. Hawthorn or West Coast (Judless) may have a go.

Jeff White, Brad Green, or Russell Robertson would also be potential trade bait with the position your in IMO.

No to Brad Green. He has shown a lot this year and his accurate left foot is still handy. He's improved his hardness out of sight and is one of our best leaders on the ground.

I'd definately be up to trading White as long as we get Hudson!
