Well Patton's very lucky to be in Australia isn't he. Because in the US, UK and other countries the hospitals are full of very sick people and many are being turned away to die because there is no room left in the hospitals.

Perfect example of how this world is going bat sh!t crazy!!!
 
The mental health excuse just robs people a little of need to shout their righteous indignation and general feeling of retribution. Instead we are asked to show him sympathy, which irks some.

So you think it's bad that he may be feeling deep remorse? And bad that he may finally be reflecting on his behavior?

It's not but that's all they're doing claiming mental health is getting the media off their back and quite likely lessening the sentence/consequence. It even works in real court let alone the AFL's micky mouse version of judiciary

The only emotion they're feeling is 'guilt', not worthy of a mental health claim. Takes away from real sufferers even giving people like Gazz/Patton etc the publicity of 'mental health'. Even the words are starting to lose meaning they get thrown around so conveniently now

Whoops, I got caught with drugs, cheating, DUI etc. 10 years ago that was 'bringing the game into disrepute' and accountability followed. Now it's 'mental health' instead. It's ridiculous

Yes he did, but everyone has pretty much moved on now, I never hear it mentioned. All I'm say is don't run adn hide from it, cop it and it will be done with much sooner rather than hiding and people keep speculating on it.

There's (rightfully) a double standard in sending unwanted nudes between men and women much like 'sexual assault' lines a blurred (rightly) between the 2

If I grab a chicks ass in a bar that isn't equal to her doing the same. She couldn't drag me down a back alley if she wanted to. Hence the double standard

It's not a double standard at all.

Lying to my kids about Santa Claus and lying to my partner about cheating on her are both lies - but completely different contexts.

What's different now is the self entitlement of people......especially younger people.

People use mental health as an excuse and a shield to protect themselves from negative outcomes due to poor choices.

And it's not just mental health.

Just admit that you stuffed up and hurt others, stump up and accept it. Appologise with real sincerity, learn from your mistakes, don't make those mistakes again and move on.

How do you know he hasn't apologised and is learning from his mistakes?


Personally, I think the biggest difference with the world these days is how people hang off everything they read in the news.

I don't feel that Patton owes me anything. I certainly don't think the media have any role to play in it whatsoever.

I’ll tell you two things about doctors which holds true for all of them - (1) they’re busy as fu** and don’t waste their time, (2) they’re very well paid for that scarce time they have, so don’t need to spend it “helping anyone out” for a paycheque.

If he’s pulling some “card” or faking an illness I’m very sure he’ll be told to GAGF by medical professionals (in not so many words of course). If we know anything about Patton from his published msgs, it’s that he’s not very bright. He’s not pulling the wool over anybody’s eyes.

I don't know anything about this specific case but in general a lot of these Doctors can and do miss things due to how busy they are, someone says that they are depressed they will get asked a few questions about why they think that and a lot of the time the Doctor will then just take their word for it. It would be great if these Doctors were perfect but even the best of them are fairly under the pump right now.

The biggest difference today is all this on line social media and smart phones.

More trouble than it's worth. And everyone is addicted in various forms.

Have to agree with this. While not condoning the actions, the singles/dating scene had been impacted by apps like tinder etc. It's now a numbers game where guys who are purely after sex get straight to the point and move on if the girl isn't interested.

While it's a crude way of approaching it, I'm sure that sort of approach is rewarded by certain parts of the female population, while also disturbing the other end of the spectrum.

In pattons case, I'm sure it's been successful in some (or even many) cases, but he's obviously gone fishing and used the wrong bait for these particular women.

The lesson is, no unsolicited d pics. Particularly given his high profile, even if it does work, the chances of it becoming public should have been enough of a deterrent.
 
Would anyone genuinely believe Patton is the only one that’s sent lewd texts and images to these Women that have come out? It’s very noble of them to call it out and to sound out a warning to other players but what about the likely thousands of lewd texts and images they’ve received by non famous people? Can only guess those men were blocked, deleted etc. Which is basically what 99% of people do.

Its all come unstuck for Patton because of his profile, I have heaps of female friends and I’m sure if they received lewd texts and images from AFL players/celebrities they would definately keep them, at the very least for show and tell! If it’s a nobody instant delete pretty much.
