Don't worry he is a freak talent with class.

His superior reading of the play suits him for CHB in the future and his leadership and quality character are great assets on the field.

The kid doesn't even have a drop of alcohol with the rest of the players. He is a professional athlete with a football brain.

He also had excellent goal sense and is an Adam Goodes style utility, could play midfield, wing, CHB, forward or anywhere.

You can watch him in action herehttp://www.puntroadend.com/movies/J.Oakley-Nicholls.mpg.

was this meant to be a highlights package???
in half the clips he turned it over.
you guys would've been better to pick up hurn or drum.
altough i can't talk too much as we picked up a bloke with the first name kepler.:(

yeh i reckon higgins will be a player but i wouldnt want him

hurn/jones/clark etc would of set us up nicely

higgins has been a great pick upfor the dogs, who on earth wouldnt want him??
PLSC = Pornographic Lover (of) Sable Cubs

because we dont need more flankers/outside midfielders

higgins and jon might turn out great but they will always be give me the ball and run etc instead of a player like jones who can get it himself which we really need

hey tobez how long does it take ya to bring that kind of gold to the table, 2-3weeks?

We have heaps of inside mids, they just aren't elite except for one of them.

Regular starting inside mids:

Shane Tuck
Kane Johnson
Mark Coughlan (elite at his best)
Nathan Foley (equal to Chris Judd for clearance rates)
Dean Polo (plays more midfield than any other youngster)
Andrew Krakouer
Greg Tivendale (wins same amount of contested possessions as Luke Hudge even, you are kidding yourself you if think he's an outside mid)

Others include:
Chris Newman
Andrew Raines

Outside mids:
Deledio
Tambling (wins his own ball too)
Shane Edwards (tackles like Krakouer though)
Chris Hyde

Others:
Nathan Brown

We do not need MORE inside mids, we wouldn't say in draft week we have "too many" for no reason. We would have a better mix if Fiora was a star outside mid and we had 1 less inside, but that dud ruined our plans. Why couldn't we get pick 3 in 2001 instead of 1999?

Polo is or will be a complete type of midfielder, wins his own ball, can find plenty of space and can go 1-on-1 vs a direct opponent, he actually thrives on this.

Edwards will be similar imo, a hard nut that will be at every contest.

connors will be an inside midfielder with a touch of class.

I think Polo is ready to step up this year and assist Johnson, Tuck in the guts. Hopefully Foley comes on as well, we'll look a lot more solid in 07.

shocking post

I've written him off. Anything he does will be a bonus.

CHB? Jeepers, he's 20 kilos and some mongrel away from that.

I would love to eat my words, but I don't think I'll have to.

Thanks Greg....:thumbsd:

I'm not saying that you're a horrible person but most stereotypes are racist
especially when they talk about such intangible things as courage.

We all do it to some degree, 40 years of DNA testing is just about to put the lid on a fact that yours ,or my DNA has the same chance of being closer to an indigenous Australian as it would be to someone whose heritage is from the same place as us.
It is pseudo-scientific race theory used to justify slavery and colonialism that still lives and makes us believe that there are fundamental differences. There are not.

I don't mean this to be a personal attack on you just thought you might like to know
I am over half aboringal, infact i probably have more in me than Jarrod does. We wont let that get in the way of a good story though.

Then you will be aware that his courage is not dependent upon his background. My point was much broader than one particular group of people.

Anyway ,we agree that he has courage and I hope he becomes a superstar :thumbsu:

shocking post

Care to explain why? Everything I said was valid.

We have gon into games with too many inside mids such as Tuck, Johnson, Foley with Tiv, Polo and Krak rotating through.

Just because half of our team is skinny doesn't mean we don't have players who can win the ball. Coughlan is the champion inside mid we need then we need a balanced player like Polo or Connors then an outside mid. Foley can play both as well.

Look at west coast, their 3 best mids are not monster inside mids are they!

tuck cant kick
johnno is a pure tagger nowadays
foley is still learning
tivendale inside :thumbsd:
krakouer playing midfield is funny
polo i like a lot

that inside mid list is shocking

how can you say we dont need anymore?

Agree we don't need more, we just need better.

Oh sorry, everything Greg Miller has done has been just perfect and because he picked up Carey yonks ago his every crappy draft decision is forgiven...

This pick was not well used and JON has so far not shown he will ever be anything above OK. We'll be having this same discussion 12 months from now, and I expect my view to be the same.

Because he is all of 18 years old.

its not about his injuries and stuff like that because if we didnt pick him up he'd be lucky to go first round

the 2005 draft isnt a very good one but with pick 8 i was expecting better

19, but I take your point. He's a looooong way off, and the evidence thus far suggests he will be well overtaken by players younger than him by the time he is able to compete at the highest level.

He may not have been overtaken by very many at Richmond, but in case you hadn't realised we're mid-range at best...

The rose coloured glasses among many Tiger fans is a constant source of amazement to me. He's a non-issue for this year and the next. So that'll be 3 years we will have nurtured and paid him before he's possibly going to assist. Excuse me for having fractionally higher standards than you...

And rightfully so. The next 6 picks after him were Clark, Drum, Higgins, Jones, Hurn, Birchall - all of whom would be giving their teams far more optimism than our Jarrad. We erred, plain and simple.

Good luck to him.

I know Bents, it made me laugh too. He's been in the system one year and already he's been sold to the glue factory.

I dont have an opinion one way or another, but l do know to at least give the kid as much time as anyone else. No different to Meyer for me... he's in his 3rd year and l reckon he'll be a champion, even if he had another average year in 2007.

Give em time.
