We all love the big fella.
I have only really started going to the games the last 3 years and I have to say it's been a privilege to watch Browny line up in the deep pocket , in front of us and do what only few could do .
Poetry in motion, always a highlight of the match. Good luck to ya Browny, you make us proud to be a Lion.

Cheers Browny. You bloody legend.

I'm sorry PatfullFanKezz and Im'ma let you finish but Warwick just made one of the greatest unexpected Bigfooty returns of all time... OF ALL TIME!

Only thing that could top it would be the return of toddy.

Love the man. Remember a game he played against hawthorn many years ago, where they went through about 6 blokes to try and stop him.

In his prime one on one he was unstoppable.

Will be missed by us all.

I can't believe I don't get to scream 'Broooooooowwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnyyyyyyy' after he takes a grab anymore :(

Over 50 years of watching our great game, I can say with honestly that JB is up there with the very best. We have been privileged to see him, Black and Voss on the same field together.

I often felt when he was playing interstate and the morons [we have them too at the Gabba] were booing him while he was lining up for another 50m spear that they were only behaving this way because they knew he was so good.

A champion in every sense of the word.

True champion of the game hangs up the boots.

Players like him don't come around too often. Pleasure to have watched him play. Wish him all the best with life after footy.

As a Lions member and supporter I just wanted to thank Jonathon Brown for providing us with so much over the years, he has been outstanding both on and off the field.

Thank you Browny, trust you stay at the club, enjoy retirement.

Good highlights package on the Lions website, though i'd also love to see the big moments in games highlighted as well, you know the times when he saved the game for us. There has to be a few of those that could be added to that highlights package.

The Hawthorn mark will forever be the hallmark trait of Brown's legacy but for mine there's a handful of endearing memories that I'll forever be grateful for witnessing.
  • The goal on the siren to draw with Sydney. Walking back 55m out without once considering giving the ball off. Taking it upon himself to get the job done.
  • Round 2 2010 v Carlton. Brown kicked 7 in one of the most dominant displays I've ever seen on a football field. Absolutely clinical
  • 10 goals v Carlton 2007. Speaks for itself
  • The goal to win the game against West Coast at Subiaco - the wooden spoon game
  • The return from injury game against Essendon (can't remember what year)
  • The 2003 heritage round game - Brown put on a clinic in Fitzroy colours at the MCG against Collingwood (extra points)
Long live the king

You've done so much for us over your career, Browny. Much appreciated. Hard to imagine the Lions without the big 16. You will be missed.

I'm honored to have been there for his last game, even with how it ended. He is an inspiration. Thank you Brownie and may you have many wonderful years with your family and as a future coach and legend of the game.

Absolute superstar ... words can't express how good this guy was.
People talk about courage & leadership - this guy wrote the book!
When they named him as captain of the 2008 Victorian side, it honestly brought a tear to the eye ... Couldn't have picked a better bloke.

It just won't be the same sitting in Section 67 on Saturday night, you get so used to looking for the big fella when the ball enters the forward 50. I will miss his bravery, ruthlessness, undying commitment and leadership. But I think the most I will miss is watching him line up for a set shot outside the 50, then saluting the crowd with the finger pointed to the sky. Legendary.

Thanks for everything Browny.

I@&was born in #1998 so I don't know the Lions dominance in 2001,02,03 but I've,been told that although Browny was a hothead, he was a sensational player that lifted the team. I was sad to see Black leave but now Brownys gone too. He is a club legend.

Truly sad. Like most I will miss those long leads, that dead eye kick and his ability to mark the un-markable.

But mostly I'm going to miss the little things like how he seemingly never lost his love of playing footy and ran through every banner like a first gamer. Or how he would sing the club song with such vigour, and how he would slip in a cheeky "Go Lions" during post game interviews.

A true club man. His presence, unrelenting determination and passion will be greatly missed.

Thanks for giving your all to the club JB. :footy:

I've read through the thread and it's all very nice BUT

if you really want to pay tribute to the bloke, do what I'm doing now.

Crack a beer, raise it to the air Browny style and say cheers.

He would LOVE that!

Loved to watch him play and always feared my team playing against JB (and Bris in their heyday). Didn't shirk things on field, and hasn't shied away from a life changing decision off the field.
Hope he has a great life after footy and enjoys his time with his family.
