Yeah that's the thing, we could trade him for a 3rd which we wouldn't use but would have to go and get another ruckman. That or we trade him for a middle of the road player when he's been a top 6 player for us in both years. He's still well and truly best 22 in tandem with Mumford.

We have nothing of value to trade for him anyway. For Sauce we paid a second rounder and a later pick for a no name, ruckman with very little AFL games. Giles is worth a first rounder.

Just because we went for a young developing ruckman with our third rounder doesn't mean we aren't going to go for a 26 year old (at the start of the season) experienced ruck to partner with Jacobs.

I was thinking the same thing. If Noble can somehow parlay Henderson into Polec, Edwards & Giles then I would be very happy. Id be happy if we only got 2 of them, and I'm not fussed which two.

Giles is a better Ruck/Forward option than JJ imo, plus good insurance should either Tex or JJ struggle after injury. Plus a genuine replacement if Sauce goes down or stinks it up. More important than Polec.

Had another solid year, played all 22 games and finished 6th in the B&F after 5th last year. We'll definitely play Giles and Mumford together, played 10 with the Giles/Brogan combo this year which was every game that Brogan was able to give us.

Nothing in it I don't reckon, Brisbane were always going to match bids on Freeman. Does send a message to Lions concerning Polec trade ie. no such thing as a free lunch.

Giles would be a fantastic get. Two ruckman is much more viable when we have an elite crumbing forward (Betts)

It's an interesting one with the Polec et al situation in the background. It does mean you can't trade that pick away so it does limit you a little. For example a club offers you their 2nd and 3rd round picks in exchange for player X and 4th round pick.

Not a big deal granted, just interesting to see how it all plays out.

If it's the first one, Smoothy, then it's almost certain that he's in potential trade talks with Adelaide.

If it's the second one then we're none the wiser either way.

Giles will be a great reserves Ruck for us.
He isnt getting ahead of Jacobs and isnt a better forward then Jenkins.
Cant play all 3.
