Can't see it happening, I'm sure we'd be interested but what do we honestly have that we could give GWS that they'd be interested in that we're willing to lose? Much like Henderson, he's contracted so they're not just going to give him away.

Seem to recall them giving him a pretty decent $$$ as well?

We offered more $$$ last year however Giles traded off $$$ for leading the ruck

I posted this on the main trading thread earlier:

Three way trade:

Henderson -> Collingwood
Shaw -> GWS
Giles -> Adelaide

Potentially GWS would have to throw a third round pick in to Collingwood. Depends how much Shaw's rage factor devalues him.

We'd then have to use McKernan or Lyons to secure Polec.

Or maybe L Thompson for Edwards, two players looking for further opportunities. GWS do need to bolster their defensive stocks
Not sure. I have to preface this by admitting I haven't seen Edwards play, but most here seem to think he is worth a 3rd round pick. Can we say the same for LT? I doubt it.

Some trades like what I have proposed is more about giving a player more opportunities

Can't see how Edwards is worth a third rounder when some are suggesting that DMac is worth a 3rd rounder and a smack a 4th rounder

Edwards has only played 12 of 44 games in a side that is full of kids, a straight player exchange would seem fair to me

If Giles had become available because of GWS acquiring Mumford it would probably have caught the AFC by surprise and so wouldn't be in their sights or plans, making things difficult for our club to get him even if they wanted to.

What has changed from last year? If his reasons for not coming were his reluctance to play second ruck or more likely sanfl then nothing has really changed. It would be good for us with a quality backup but would he be worth trading someone like Hendo if he is going to play reserves most of the year?

Maybe Jacobs being mediocre this year has made Giles think they he could force his way into the side?

If he'd come over this year, there is no doubt Jacobs would've been dropped and Giles would've had the chance to try and make the lead ruck role his own.

I'd assume it would be for peanuts
Has anyone seen much of him?

Have a look at our 2912 game against GWS at Skoda, he played pretty well against us that day

Great pace, strong overhead and very clean with the footy

It must have been the game that impressed us, can play forward, back and midfield

I would imagine Giles manager would be saying he is only moving if he can be assured of opportunity/game time. If Adelaide do end up getting him, Jacobs should be nervous

I am of the same opinion. Jacobs had a poor year this year. Perhaps he needs more help I am not sure but based on this years performance I could see Giles leading our rucks......or at worst he and Jacobs could share the responsibility by playing alternative weeks although I am not sure how that would work.

Last year Giles didn't want to come because he wanted to be the #1 ruck.

That won't happen with Mumford there. If he is keen to move, this might be our chance to get him below cost.
It won't be below cost, hence why this is far fetched...we don't have the currency!

Hampson just got traded for pick 28. This is yet another proof that if you are trading a genuine tall that can walk and talk at the same time you are going to get a good deal!

Giles is a much better ruckman than Hampson!

That is so wrong its not funny.
That story about Giles is put out by people who have no knowedge of what happened last year with him. As was shown this year, Giles would have played every single game even with sauce in the same side. Kicked 4 goals against Essendon this year and thats in the worst side in the leauge. Put him in our side and you have a 30-40 goal ruckman.
The trend in towards two ruckman as shown by Sydney, West Coast. Especially one who can go in the forward line and kick goals, which Giles can.

Wow, your not one for making big statements........MUCH!!!

Yep, Noble just confirmed there is zero interest in Giles, and the Polec deal is gonna take a while (no surprise there).
