Another pretty quiet one, 14 touches and 3 marks...

I saw that a few times yesterday although it is not the end of the world as during the last quarter a fair portion of the team would have been doing that. It would be very unfair to just point him out on that one.I watched him closely yesterday, guilty of ball watching quite a few times, one which cost us a goal in the last qtr

I think people need to stop thinking about his pick and just think about the fact he has played less than 20 gamesI think people have to stop thinking of him as number 2 pick and start thinking of him as a number 19 pick. GWS wouldn't have let him go for number 19 if they thought he'd reach his top 2 potential.
I have to say I'm sick to death of people saying each week that O'Rourke is running to the right spots and isn't being utilised. For the last 4 and a bit seasons we've been the standout team in the comp at spotting up open targets and honouring leads. And the boys don't see player A and think "he's no good I'll look for someone else" -they honour the player in the brown & gold jumper who's made best position almost every single time.
Let's face the facts: at this moment in time JOR is a very ordinary footballer. Yes, he's lacked continuity and yes, we shouldn't judge him based solely on his original draft number but let's call a spade a spade.
He doesn't have great composure, isn't a penetrating (or particularly accurate) kick, is poor one on one, doesn't consistently stick tackles, can't lock down on opponents, isn't quick, has trouble finding the footy and from what I've seen has very little positional awareness out on the ground.
I can remember a sum total of two impressive things he's done in a hawks guernsey: a centering kick to Gunston v the bulldogs and a nice spin out of traffic yesterday. Someone like Kade Stewart has shown more in his 3 games than JOR has in his entire career.
I understand the club has invested a lot in him and are looking to fast track replacements for our ageing mids but I just don't see any sign of development & progression in him.
There is no way he should be anywhere near the 2016 senior team...the thought of him featuring in finals makes me break out in hives
He has no elite quality. That is the issue atm. He has time on his hands, wait to properly judge at 50 games but I can't say I'm that excited about him.

Ok so you've had a go at me so let me say this.Posters in this thread are pathetic, it is like you want him to fail. He has played less than 20 games ffs. There are so many players that showed **** all in their first 20 games and became great players. This guy has had no continuity until this year, and even then he has been at Box Hill a few times which just ****s you up completely.
Woody I think should get the rest of the year at BH to get some confidence in his body and another contract, next year is then his chance to do a Wx this year.Ok so you've had a go at me so let me say this.
1) I would never want a Hawk player to fail
2) I admit I've been hard on him but to be honest I was pissed Lovell and Stewart were dropped after both having better debuts than him
3) I've poked at JOR on here because I'd love to actually hear why people thinks he deserves a game above Stewart, Lovell or Woody?
This is an ignorant comment. Firstly we play a zone defence. IF you don't know this please pay more attention. Secondly in a zone defence players a) watch the ball carrier to anticipate where the ball is going and b) rely on team mates to behind them to call out to them if their position is wrong.I watched him closely yesterday, guilty of ball watching quite a few times, one which cost us a goal in the last qtr

Tige, where can you get time on ground stats from??I wonder if posters are that simple that they don't look at his game as a whole? So we have a kid who averages 15 touches a game playing 65-70% of game time, on the flip side our senior players (Mitch/Burger/Hodge/Lewis) spend 85-95% of the game on the field.
One would accordingly understand that you can't get the pill sitting on the bench right? I posted earlier in the thread in detail his KPI's as a mid and he absolutely stacks up to what our senior guys are doing. There's one thing that's stopping him become a 20+ touches a game mid and that's game time.
