Vanilla is great when it is used to balance out other flavors. The real question is, is he quality vanilla - Valhalla or Black and Gold (and suddenly Richmond makes sense..)Vanilla

I'm part of the camp that thinks the club should at least persist with him for another season or two. When I've seen him play he shows glimpses of what made him a top 3 pick but I can't for life of me figure out why he can't play like it consistently.
Of the 2012 draft group you could only call Viney and Stringer bonafide superstars of the AFL (and after this year maybe Daniher but he needs to improve his kicking).
And of the entire 2012 draft, off the top of my head the only players playing good consistent senior footy are; Whitfield, Macrae, Wines, Grundy, Mason Wood and Lachie Hunter so not an overly large group. I guess I'm just being optimistic but I think there's still a bit of development for O'Rourke before he kicks in.
This is the standard I like to apply when evaluating one of our own who hasn't shown the goods:
What does he look like to me if I picture him in another club's colors?
Does he worry the coaches at our club?
Do we have to game plan for him?
Can he hurt us because he can win his position well enough to do so?
If people are honest and apply the above, you'd be lost for a good answer that soothes your hopes for the kid.
He's bog average, maybe below bog average, and if he was playing for a stinky club you'd absolutely laugh if their supporters told you he could be the difference in the contest.
Go on, see it in your minds. He's got a Richmond jersey on, or Lions or Blues.
You'd call him a spud and move on.
I get everyone wants it to be different, and if he re-invents himself over the pre-season and is a beast next year - then he deserves every accolade. But to expect that to happen based on his play since he was 18 until now is silly.
that would be savage and in my opinion un-hawthorn like.I have been unreliably informed that the club has lost faith in him. This stemmed from him being with Tallia when he was arrested. Poor decision maker both on & off the field. The person that told me was adamant that the club has told him he is not a required player next year. Not vouching for my source, but if he was traded, it definitely wouldn't come as a surprise.

Exactly my thoughts. We've known (and been covering) for years the fact that Lewis, Mitchell and Hodge aren't fast.I would say we will only start seeing Jono begin to come in to his own when the older brigade take up less minutes in the middle.
No. TheFourPillars is who you are after.I could have sworn some one (one of the mods) saw him play an intra club and look really good. Was it you Abasi ?
Didn't Clarko say, when he first came on board as our coach, that you shouldn't judge the team until they've played 50+ games together? So how can we pass judgement on a kid who have played 18 games over 4 years? With the list turnover we're about to endure, I suggest we all get ready for a bumpy 2 years before we regain our rightful place on top of the mountain.
Probably not the situation here mate...The same coach has dropped players to box hill and theyve never been seen again after as little as 1 game
